@carolkean

Sooo many posts I'd love to nominate every week, but I know how long it takes to get them all entered in the Friday Favorites. :) Even if taking shortcuts. Shame on me! So, this week, I'll limit myself to just one, by @kaelci:

Joey! Joey! Joey! OMG I love Joey!!!!!

He knows exactly how best to make use of a pink baby pool. :)
These are so fun and well written. I'm smitten with the wild, crazy, fun-loving, impractical, impossible Joey, and grimacing at the wet-blanket, no-nonsense pragmatism of Jenny. How did these two ever become roommates? What are they up to, and how will they respond to daily freewrite prompts like "hippo" and "pink baby pool?"

This is Part 8 of a Joey and Jenny adventure. @kaelci is writing an on-going story using the daily prompts:

Part One - prompt nap
Part Two - prompt hippo
Part Three - prompt posted
Part Four - prompt canyon
Part Five - prompt paralysed
Part Six - prompt library
Part Seven - prompt champagne
Part Eight - prompt pink baby pool

No, I'm not gonna hyperlink those here. Go to Part 8 to access them :)

@fitinfun

I have two this week:

As usual, @myjob has fascinating info about her fishing life and tells us that you need to get your traps out of the water on the July 4th weekend in the land where they think they are free. Otherwise they will be stolen or ruined. Good to know!

And she tells us the word should be "Flutterby." I completely agree.

I am recommending poetry! This is by @dkkarolien musing on the sight of a metal butterfly and ending:

I know after seeing this that I won't give up the fight.

Let us all keep to that promise!

@whatisnew

Here are 3 gems about my favorite subject, butterflies.
@botefarm wrote a beautiful poem about 2 women; a Queen and one who is to become a Queen. Find out what happens to the Queen with too much ego and why the other woman became the next Queen. The contrast between the beautifully written poem and my dry description goes without saying.

@deeanndmathews writes a story about a sculptor who makes figures out of metal and his latest was a realistic blue Morpho Butterfly. Find out why he made the butterfly and what it represents. It will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

@kaerpediem wrote a freewrite turned FreeRead for the prompt, metal butterfly. The character, a young girl named Sammy has always wanted to be a butterfly and now has to make a final decision if she is to become one, and there is no turning back once the decision is made. I guarantee you that you would have never thought about the butterflies she writes about. This was a cute story, delivered perfectly in a video.

@marblely

Am I late? Am I late?
My favourites are:

I loved how @deeanndmathews described how each individual component - the dough, the greens, the reds, the onions, the garlic, the cheese, the herbs - are orchestrated in a kitchen musical to come together to make a good pizza. I tend to imagine and visualize when I read and I can tell you that I enjoyed imagining her writing in the form of the movie "Ratatouille"(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratatouille_(film))...

The way @hlezama blended the story of math and pizza together was a pleasant surprise to read. I enjoyed reading the story which has a tint of lesson to be learned at the end. Teaching is such a noble job and the sacrifices made by teachers are often forgotten and this story gently reminds us of this.

A two-fer! This post was nominated twice.

@deeanndmathews

My vote is going to @hlezama for this freewrite that brought together MathPizza, two of my favorite things. The story itself resonates with a lot of truth about teachers, and how they work faithfully in a society that does not always value them... but it is the storytelling that is just amazing ... you will SMELL the tomato sauce, the cheese, the meat, the herbs and spices, and you will see the melted cheese stretching itself, attempting its escape from an eater's mouth, and you will participate in the urgent, torturous countdown as the pizza disappears, slice by slice ...

@wakeupkitty

First, thank you all for the great free writes. It is true, I have a lack of time and there are so many great ones it is hard to choose only 4 out of all of them. Four is my max this time. English and German.
My 1st recommendation is written by @mgaft1
The prompt stone rose is used.
Be careful with what you wish. Believe me ghosts are stupid, not able to understand what you mean and it is clear the wisher and ghost do not speak the same language.
Rosaline can tell you all about it. Oh, wait she cannot.

My 2nd recommendation is @justsmile0304
This freewrite is written in German and you find an English version of it underneath. The prompt used is Steinrose
The writer shares a memory with us about grandfather and his yard. No lawn but it was full of pots with all kind of plants. It was a paradise and no matter in what state the plants were taken to him, in a few days he brought life back into them. Green fingers or a gift?

My 3rd recommendation is written by @marblely.
She used the prompt metal butterflies.

If you know this writer you will not be surprised about this freewrite.
You have a picture in mind how it should be, you start full of enthusiasm, encourage yourself, do your best, check, check again but something is wrong. It is just not that what you had in mind...

My 4th recommendation is an amazing tale written by @nidyamiles.
The prompt used is metall schmeterlinge.
Harry is already 11 years old but loves to hear his grandfather tell him about the butterflies. Once they were all over the earth. The only ones he know are in the botanic garden, made out of metal and very noisy.
Harry has doubts about the butterflies. Did they really exist or is it all made up? Just a story like the one about the Almighty humans who created them?
