The walls of the nursing home and the three pairs of skeletons, except for the teeth, still creak to the rhythm of the surf breaker, excited with their gray nerves, and the break has become an old habit, broken the nights, as much as the days, broken the memory, as well as the illusions of receiving a hug again.
However, July's steps that day put a continuous sound between the cracks, a kind of damping made of laughs and songs, silly jokes, winks without motive, maternal pampering and specialized care.
All six were notified by mail, but never received more than the surprise, which burst in like a ray of sunshine, without asking permission, luckily.
Fortunately, July even brought their souls to the hearth, and beyond their aged smells, she was able to embrace them every sunset, and wish them sweet dreams. An entire month, a whole month!
But the goodness was broken against the rocks of the breakwater: July left on August 1. The six old men have returned from that fragile calm to the peace of the fragment of life they have left, after disintegrating the young volunteer nurse, so kind as imaginary.
