Delicious BLISS BALLS with Coconut and Raisins (Raw+Vegan)

in #food6 years ago (edited)

Improvising in the kitchen is an art which I had to develop even further while traveling. My blender broke down just a day before I wanted to make bliss balls as little farewell gift to the amazing people I got to know in Kuala Lumpur. Luckily I was ready for a challenge so that I changed some ingredients and got creative with my mixture.

Normally, I just use any nuts and dried fruits in a 1:1 ratio for bliss balls, but without my blender I didn’t see any chance to get the nuts finely shredded without spending hours in my kitchen cutting them all manually with my knife, since I wanted to make a big batch. Therefore I decided to use coconut flour instead.

By the way, I managed to buy almost all ingredients in a package-free store in my area, to keep mother earth and especially the ocean clean, healthy and happy.

At first, the dough was way too dry to form any balls due to the less fatty coconut flour and I didn’t want to add any processed foods like oil. But conveniently I still had some really ripe bananas lying around, which turned out to be perfect for the recipe.

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut flour
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1 cup mulberries
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Just chop up the almonds, raisins and mulberries. You can easily mash the bananas with a fork, then mix everything together (the best equipment for that are your hands). You might want to add more or less coconut flour and bananas until the dough is firm but still juicy enough to form nice balls.

My friends in Kuala Lumpur were all pretty amazed by the taste, which was the first raw vegan treat for many of them. After talking a lot with them about our quite uncommon diet, one couple even decided to challenge themselves with one day of just raw food each week!

Even only small steps towards a healthier lifestyle can turn into something truly astonishing, so be curious for new habits that might enrich your life in the long run.

Have a wonderful day and a fruitful journey ahead!

Thank you so much for that awesome recipe. I will try and make a version with walnuts and raw cacao.

That sounds delicious, walnuts are such a great choice for bliss balls and raw cacao always gives you the taste of a real treat, right? ☺️

yummy that looks😃delicious 😍

Thank you, it truly is! Raw treats are so easy and they never seem to disappoint me ☺️

Looking so scrumptious!

Thank you, Mers ☺️

Bliss balls are just so good, full of energy, nutrients, and of course the taste, you can't have just one! I bet these ones taste incredible with the coconut and the dried fruits! 😍

It's so lovely to hear about the reaction your friends in Kuala Lumpur had, you're changing people's lives! :) It's great to hear from you after a few weeks!

Thank you, Jasmin! Yes, I mad some really amazing people there that were totally open-minded about new ways of eating and living in general. For many people raw veganism seems extreme and they reject the idea instantly when hearing about our diet. So it was quite empowering to experience such different and enthusiastic reactions in Kuala Lumpur ☺️

So true, I have been absent for a while, since Malaysia surprisingly turned out to be a pretty intense journey inwards. I took some time for myself and was rewarded with a lot of spiritual growth. Turns out traveling is not always about exploring places within the world, but also within ourselves. 😉

It's always lovely to meet open-minded people, the conversations you can have with that kind of people are precious! I'm glad you were able to have that experience in Kuala Lumpur! 😊

Sometimes we all need to take a little time for ourselves, that's the only way to grow as person! Have a lovely day Anais!

Absolutely, we enjoyed every moment of it and they also gave us a lot of new impulses in their areas of expertise! ✨

Great adaptation! What a perfect way to make it work and have a fantastic outcome! I always wonder what to do with coconut flour since most of the recipes I see use eggs, so I may have to try these with the bag that has been collecting dust in my pantry! :)

Thank you! Well, seems to be a perfect opportunity to finally use it for something tasty ☺️ Let me know how it turns out 😉

Thank you so much! I think this was even my first time creating something with coconut flour - it just never occurred to me how I could possibly integrate it in my raw dishes 😁

Yum. They look really good, can’t even tell you improvised anything.

I was teaching college professors from China this summer and they were fascinated by my diet. I, too, brought them treats but they seemed to be a little too sweet. Most of them were not accustomed to sweets as we know them. Very cool that a couple is going to try to eat raw vegan diet once a week. We all have these small influences on one another which is what makes us a community-united! Thanks for sharing @rawadventuress ✌️

Thank you 🙏🏻☺️ Wow, that sounds like an interesting experience! I love to surprise other people, especially those that have no clue about veganism or raw food, with tasty dishes. This way we can spread our message in a very gentle and fun way and others can make new taste experiences and might even learn something for their our life along the way.

It was really rewarding to get such a beautiful feedback and I am sure that we are planting little seeds anywhere we talk about our diet and share food. Even small steps can make a bit difference on the bigger picture. ✨

Absolutely! In return it is so interesting to try our friends cuisines from around the world. The best is when I get my grandparents to adopt a new way of making something. Baby steps… :)

So true, I love to try new stuff and learn how to eat certain fruits - with or without peel, cutting it or open with hands? This is always a mystery when I see some unknown fruit ☺️ That would be so great, let me know how it goes with your grandparents 😉

Yes- I had this experience with passion fruit a few years ago. I had no idea if I should bite into it like a apple or what. Haha

That's a good one. 😄 I now made it a custom to ask the vendors directly at their fruit stalls for guidance and most of the time they even give you a sample to try for yourself first. Always an adventure ☺️

I will mirror this habit :) plus samples are the best. Ha

Really delicious 😊

Thank you, Monika! 💚
