in #food7 years ago

Hello all FOOD LOVERS!

For the 33rd STEEMIT CULINARY CHALLENGE I have the great pleasure to propose the below dessert.

I made it with the berries we picked this morning. You want to know more about the

Check Here!!!

So for my way of eating these super delicious berries, i wanted to stay in simplicity rather than working the fruits out. So for this recipe you will need :

• Alien berries 60gms
• Kunafa dough 20gms
• Mint leaves 2 sprigs
• Honey 1cl
• Drained yoghurt 3tsp
• Clarified butter 1tsp

Brush the kunafa dough with the clarified butter.

Roll the dough in a steel cylinder, then cook at 160 degrees for 8 minutes till crispy.

You will get this results with the kunafa! Very light and crispy.

IMG_2716.jpg

Mix the yoghurt and honey well till you get a smooth sauce. The sweetness of the honey brings an amazing taste to the yoghurt!

IMG_2714.jpg

Assemble all the ingredients on the plate and dress as you wish. This is how i plated mine, the honeyed yoghurt, alien berries, mint leaves and crispy kunafa!

Another view of the plate! I found it very tasty with a natural taste.

This is the best way to eat fresh berries! Some yoghurt and honey + crispy kunafa! Amazingly good!

Congratulations on winning the Most Creative Entry prize! @englishtchrivy has sent me the money, so I will transfer it to your wallet now. It was a beautifully presented dish @progressivechef! Please see my SCC winner's post for comments from @haphazard-hstead about your entry :-)

Oh WOW!!! Thank you first of all to organize such contest and put foodies on the front! Thanks a lot for the compliments @woman-onthe-wing ! You made me so happy today!

Thanks a lot @englishtchrivy for the support!

You guys rocks
Looking forward for the next one!

I'm happy to hear you so happy @progressivechef! Have a lovely weekend :-)

What it tastes like? Looks delicious

It was really very delicious dear ! Sweetness of the berries and the crisp of the kunafa was just amazing!

Great idea! I've never seen alien berries- where do they grow?

Thank you dear! Well... I call them Alien Berries! This is in Mauritius!

Never heard of Alien berries. What sort of a taste do they have? Those kunafa rolls look lovely.

It's only me who call the Alien Berries dear! The red one has a sweet and acidic taste and the blue one bland and slightly sweet!

The kunafa dough was very good!

Oh my, what a wonderfully simple and gorgeous looking dessert @progressivechef. I had never heard of Kunafa before and so had to look it up, and now I'm so curious what it tastes like that I must try making it myself! Thank you for introducing me to this unusual pastry. I think the way you prepared it in cylinder shape makes it look really eye-catching and delicate. Beautiful with your bright foraged berries and set against the dark background of the plate. I'm very impressed, and wish you good luck!!!

Hello @woman-onthe-wing ! Thanks a lot for such nice compliments!
Oh Kunafa is just magical! It's a bit like the phyllo pastry, but the taste is just excellent! After baking it, it's super crispy and delicate! I'm sure you gonna love it and get some amazing idea from it.

Infact my wife did some Baklava with Kunafa and phyllo recently, i will be posting soon!

Very happy that you like it!

Best regards
@progressivechef

I look forward to seeing your post of what your wife made... It's great to learn about unfamiliar foods from all over the world... that's why I love Steemit so much!

You nailed it! I am enjoying connecting with folks having quite same passion over here and it is absolute amazing to learn from other cultures! I've just posted the recipe she made , check it out! https://steemit.com/minnowtowhale/@progressivechef/food-diaries-act-4-baklava-easy-and-quick

daaang, nice job! this plate looks amazing :o
Soy tu tio

Thank you dear!

Interesting and so creative! Great post. Good luck ;)

Thanks a lot for the encouraging words dear!

Now that the culinary challenge is over, I can say -- It's really impressive how you made these wild berries into something so sophisticated! It shows that our use of wild foods is limited only by our creativity, once we get to know the plants! And thanks for making the other post about how you foraged the berries, too!

Thanks a lo for the support dear! Using our creativity we can make magical things out of wild produce! I really enjoy cooking with natural and fresh foods like this!
I will make you discover some more soon!

Yay! I am looking forward to that!

Who would even guess that these are wild berries! Wild berries are one of those foraged foods that can fit into our lives so many ways. I like that you left these whole so people can appreciate the berries themselves, too! I bet that was fun to eat - and tasty! Happy foraging!

Note: This was resteemed to the @foraging-trail, but it's not showing up there. The Steemit interface has been having trouble showing a lot of posts the last couple days. So it's blocking me from resteeming it again, even though it never sent my original resteem request through to the blockchain. So, sorry your great post isn't on the list. I will include it, though, in the next @foraging-trail report.

Absolutely right @foraging-trail! You get the best pleasure out of it while it is whole! It was indeed very tasty!
It will be a honour to be on the @foraging-trail dear! Thanks a lot!
