☀️RESTAURANT REVIEW - PEPENERO MOUILLE POINT☀️
They say that Cape Town can have four seasons in one day, and it is SO true. This weekend we have the loveliest sunny Saturday, and on Sunday it was icy and rainy again.
To celebrate and enjoy the lovely sunshine, we headed to Mouille Point, an area on the beachfront in Cape Town known for its seaside cafes and lonnng promenade.
We chose Pepenero as we were looking for a warm spot in the sun, and they have a wonderful outdoor area. One would be forgiven for mistakenly thinking they were somewhere in the Med.
The menu was the usual Italian style seafood, pizza and pasta dishes, with an expansive wine list. They also had some fantastic lunch specials, ranging from R50 - R150 ($4 - $12).
We ordered some water for the table and I had to order a glass of Chardonnay, the weather was giving me that summer feeling.
My husband and I both had the chicken burger special (R59/$4.50), and our guest had the beer battered hake and chips (R79/$6).
The food was lovely. Nothing especially different, but well seasoned, with fresh ingredients and perfectly salted fries. Our chicken burgers had my favourite, onion rings!
The chicken breast patty had been flame grilled, and had that smoky, charred flavour.
The Fish n Chips was a huge portion, with two fillets of hake, battered and fried. It was quite succulent, with the batter fried just crispy, and not oily at all. It was served with a tasty home made tartar sauce.
The service was attentive, but not overbearing. Our waiter was so efficient and friendly, and we did not want for a single item.
Chilled trip hop played as we soaked up the sun, chatted and took in the views.
We had a really chill time, and with the specials, really didn't spend much on the meal.
I would definitely go again, especially for some wine and prawns.

Yes, Cape Town is an amazing place.
Beer battered fish quite a traditional dish brought to SA by the British settlers many years ago.
Recently we to have been getting four seasons in a day, has been a weird summer i must say
that area does look like the med for sure
Althought i do like fish and chips I think I would have to go for the burger looks so good
Yeah I only like fish if it’s not battered, perhaps grilled yellowtail or something like that. I wasn’t in the mood for fried everything!
@princessmewmew I am trying to avoid fried as well these days, other than air fried in the new air fryer we have and its surprisingly good with no oil LOL
