Trailer Review - Shazam! (2019)
There's A Superhero Inside
It looks like DC Comics is finally starting to catch up with Marvel, when it comes to introducing new characters and standalone movies to their franchise.
Shazam is probably not one of the more well known characters in the DC universe, but I think this was a move to appeal more to the younger crowd in my opinion. This was also a move in add more characters to the Justice League crew, which is basically every superhero in the universe.
The story is about a young teenage boy who receives god like magical powers, which then transforms him into a grown up superhero with some pretty awesome powers. The premise of the film is an origins story of how Billy becomes the superhero Shazam and has to face his first villain to save the world. The only thing that kind of put me off was the very cartoon like suit, it looks way too over the top, almost like a Barney the dinosaur costume and not a bad ass suit like the other heroes.
"We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s case, by shouting out one word, SHAZAM! this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam, courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart, inside a ripped, godlike body, Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana." - Warner Bros. Pictures
" If you could have one superpower, what would you pick? Everybody chooses flight. You know why? So they can fly away from this conversation?" - Billy Batson
Shazam! gets an anticipated rating of 7.5/10

I'm very much a DC fanboy so I'm pretty amped whenever a DC film is about to release and Shazam along with Blue Beatle are some of my favourite characters so I have to see this one. Having seen the trailer, I'm not so sure Zachary Levi will make a great Shazam but perhaps a possible one, hopefully i'm wrong like I was with Gal Gadot lol
The thing about Shazam is his basically a goofy superman, a kid with still figuring out what it means to be a superhero kinda like spider-man and I think that story will hit home with a lot of the younger audience, its also a chance for DCEU to lighten up and bring some comic relief to the series which has been pretty dark, so lets see if incorporating more of the Marvel formula will work for them having a range of characters that appeal to different audiences and then combining them into future Justice League films
Interesting times for DC!
Hiii... Morkrock
Great Post with Great Picture.
I have more expectations with this film than with "Aquaman", I think DC could have a big winner here, the trailer looks very fun, even though it's not "R-Rated" this could be DC's Deadpool. Looking forward to it
