Afternoon Donut Fans!
This weekend I was able to treat myself to some more Krispy Kreme donuts. I waited all week to get them. The first donut I’m going to tell you about is the Cruller
"Iconic American cake doughnut covered in our signature original glaze.”
When I saw Krispy Kreme were bringing this back, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. Last time they brought it back, none of the stores in my area were selling them. I checked every week and I was gutted not to see them. Not even the staff knew! I couldn’t believe it when Krispy Kreme advertised these to say they were coming out on a Monday! Monday?? Everyone knows Monday is the first day of the diet week! I honestly didn’t know what Krispy Kreme were doing to me. It’s like they know when to push my buttons. Thankfully Saturday came round quick enough. I did have to wait until the evening to eat my donut though. It was killing me, smelling all that donut loveliness all around my house.
The one thing you will notice about this donut is the shape. The only way I can describe it is ’star shaped’ or ’shaped like a shortbread biscuit’ like those biscuits you get at the supermarket. I first clapped eyes on these years and years ago when I first ever heard of Krispy Kreme. I didn’t think they were appetising because they are described as being a cake. The donut does have a cakey texture, but it tastes of donut! Thank God! The donut is a bit crumbly. I can’t bite it without it breaking into 4 pieces! The glaze is nice and thick and I like the way it sits in the grooves of the shape of the donut. It makes it nice and sweet. Plus it added a bit of moistness to the donut too.
A really nice donut. I wish Krispy Kreme would bring these out more often in place of their Signature Ring. It would make a bit of a change and give everyone something different to look forward to. Maybe Krispy Kreme will do a chocolate glazed version of this like they did recently do with their Signature Ring.
