Hummus and Tabbouleh Salad

in #food6 years ago

Hi there, steemians! How are you?

If you want to cook some delicious and healthy food, this is the right place to look for some inspiration!

My recipes today have their originis in Middle East. Tabbouleh and Hummus are traditionally served as part of a mezze in the Arab world.  Mezze means kind of the appetizers we know. But these recipes arent just appetizers. They keeps you full for so long, you can have them as breakfast, lunch, dinner, whatever.

You can read the whole history of Hummus here or the Tabbouleh Salad's history here.  What I love the most is that you can make these dishes in your own way. Check this image below,  maybe you find it useful.

Tabbouleh Salad recipe

Ingredients:

All the veggies are completely bio and eco-friendly. The tomatoes, cucumbers and the parsley are from my garden actually. No additives at all! This is why I enjoyed this meal so much! The fact that you know what you're eating and the beautiful feeling of 'safety' that comes with it are wonderful!

  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 small cucumbers
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 bunches of parsley
  • 1/2 cup quinoua
  • 1/2 lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • salt and pepper
  • some olive oil (1 to 2 Tbsp)

Instructions:

1. First thing you have to do is to boil the quinoua in 1 liter water. Add some salt in the water and add the quinoua when the water started to boil. Cook it until is done (approx. 10 minutes) and then strain the quinoa very well.

2. Cut all the ingredients and put them in to a bowl. Add all the quinoua you boiled, salt, pepper, the juice from the lime and olive oil. Combine the mix.

two of my favourite dishes.. the perfect balanced meal.. i could eat every day!!

Yes, you are sooo right! I found this meal a very balanced one too. You couldn't say it better. I love this two recipes together. They are such a great combo! Thanks for the comment @eco-alex :)

Great photos @missdeli! Looks incredibly fresh and delicious :)

Hey, Thanks! :) Are you OK? Are you busy? You didn't response back to my comment on my previous post. I just hope you're all right..:)

I am doing good! Definitely busy between work and life. Sorry for not getting back to you!

Hope all is well back home @missdeli! I bet this dish would not be the same with those darn Canadian veggies ;)

Wonderful photos for tasty food :) Hummus is an addiction for me, unfortunately of the pre-packaged supermarket kind, i'm sorry to say... however you convinced me i should try to make my own, and I will!

Heyyyy, thank you @herverisson! I completely understand you! I adore hummus!! Yeah, I also buy pre-packed hummus sometimes but I don't consider it so 'harmful' because the hummus I found here has just a few ingredients and maybe 1 conservant, max 2 and in super small quantities (like 0.x %) . Its petty healthy and it doesn't stay to much in the supermarket because has a very short expiring date. But anyways, I'm always happy to make my own and I always change the recipes. If you don't like this recipe, I encourage you to work on it until you like it. I found some recipes that have yoghurt in it or half and half to make the hummus more 'soft'. Anyways, I'm glad you're thinking to make some homemade hummus! Write me if you do! And thanks for your support! :)

I haven't had tabbouleh in a while, but the tomatoes are perfectly ripe and in season here right now so I definitely need to make some soon! Thanks for reminding me how delicious it can be!

You're very welcome sweetheart! I completely believe you should do it as soon as you can! Our tomatoes are the bets right now, there's no day passing without having some:D Thanks for your support:)

Hey @missdeli another great blog! with a detail process .. thanks for sharing .. I hope I ll soon prepare Salad myself !

Thank you very much! You're so kind:) Yeah, make that salad as fast as you can cause I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
