What You Need To Know About the Osaka Castle (Osakajo)
Its construction began in the year 1583, on the same site as the Hongaji Temple that Oda Nobunaga destroyed about fifteen years prior to its construction. The castle was a symbol of unity under the reign of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who ruled at the time. The castle was the largest at the time his reign. However, the castle went through a series of attacks and reconstruction until 1997. Its foundation may be old but the entire castle tower has been modernized to feature a museum and an elevator.
The surrounding area of the castle is approximately two square kilometers. It features a sports facilities, Osakajo hall, garden, gates, moats, secondary citadels, impressive stone walls, shrine, and turrents. The garden is rich with six hundred cherry trees, a former guesthouse, a beautiful view of the castle, and a teahouse. This destination is popular during the early parts of April as this is the time that the cherry trees blossom. Accessing this part of the castle by tourists requires an admission fee.
It is advisable to access this castle through the Otemon Gate. This gate is at the southwest corner of the park. It is in close proximity to the Tanimachi-4-chrome station.
