What You Need To Know About the Maldives
This Southern Asia destination is located in the southwest part of India in the Indian Ocean. It is an archipelago of coral islands all linking into twenty-six coral atolls. The Maldives has eighty islands that harbor tourist resorts and two hundred that . Currently, one hundred and eighty-five of the islands harbor three hundred thousand inhabitants, while the rest is part of an agriculture and tourism scheme to boost the economic state of the Maldives.
This destination has a rich mix of culture ranging from Arab, Sinhalese to South Indian. Thus, the islands that have inhabitants conform to the traditions and cultures of the people. Therefore, things like drugs, pork, alcohol, and non-observance of the Muslim culture is prohibited. However, for the Maldives islands dealing with tourism and agriculture, the rules are entirely different.
The tropical climate and the giant coral formations that spread to numerous islands are a remarkable sight. The Maldives does not consist of islands. The coral formations on the Indian Ocean sprout out of the surface of the sea to form humongous coral formations. These formations resemble the ring structure, which eventually disintegrated to numerous islands. The coral atolls include Kaafu, Raa, Alifu, Baa, Lhaviyani, and Faafu, among others.
