Have You Visited The Waterfalls Of South Iceland?
Iceland terms waterfalls as “foss”. There are two amazing southern waterfalls, which are the Skogasfoss and the Seijalandsfoss. The latter is approximately sixty-five meters high and is located on the southern coast of Iceland. The most spectacular part about the Seijalandsfoss is that tourists are able to walk behind it and sometimes catch a glimpse of a rainbow during the day. However, it is not advisable to do this during the winter period as the area is slippery and could cause injury.
The Skogafoss is approximately thirty kilometers from the latter waterfall. It is sixty meters high and twenty-five meters wide.
The Gljufrabui is another Iceland waterfall. Locals of the area recently discovered this secret waterfall. The waterfall is covered by a humongous rock known as a Franskanef cliff (French nose), which makes it hard to view the bottom of the waterfall. This forty-meter high waterfall is also known as the “Dweller of the gorge”. Unlike the Seijalandsfoss, tourists walk right through the waterfall as opposed to behind it.
Tourists climb up the Franskanef cliff to get a better view of the waterfall.
Visiting these waterfalls require a raincoat and comfortable footwear it is also advisable to refrain from carrying any electronics such as phones.
