I LOVE that you wrote a sci-fi story to these prompts! How have I never thought of the effects of spitting in low gravity? The story of their bodies shutting down from the lack of funding is sadly a bit too real, considering the rising problems with healthcare these days.

Here's to hoping today's prompt will bring some smiles:

While snacking on a tasty piece of Snook Fruit, I came across a delicious little platter of prompts left by the Goddess Marianne. As tempted as I was to keep them to myself, they looked too scrumptious not to share.

Freewrite Prompt - Day 108

Ha - I just commented on spitting in low-g, only to find @brisby beat me to it.
But if I read all the comments before I commented, I'd never get around to commenting...

I've done that before! LOL

Hi @brisby, thanks. I agree about the healthcare issue and I'm in the UK where we still have the national health but it is being driven into the ground. Some of the inspiration for this freewrite are pretty obvious in my mind lol. I had just read an article about 'quantum' cryptocurrency launching a node into space and the market crash might have had something to do with it as well, but... honestly I just love sci-fi and I have been experimenting with genre fiction on these weekend freewrites for a while now. It is a fantastic challenge to do and I love it. Thanks for all your hard work keeping them going :-)

Whao! This is brilliant! Fuck! And it only took five minutes! I'm just in awe, damn! Nobody can forget the cloud war of 2O6O bro. That was one bloody war. Lol.

Ha ha, thanks @rasamuel. I wish I could write all this in 5 minutes mate. No, it was 3 '5 minute prompts' so 15 minutes in total ;-)

Oh come on.... more than 15 minutes total, right?
I was told it's ok to take longer than 5 minutes on a Five-Minute Free Write.
So I take an hour or more.
And, after I post the rough draft, I.... EDIT... the POST....
*Cheat, yes, I cheat, but I confess!

Ha ha you caught me @carolkean. I also edit, and by that I mean, punctuation spelling and check my tenses. But that's it, honest. I stick to the 5 mins stop watch for the body of the text after each prompt sentence and then after the 15 mins are up I give myself 20-30 mins editing time and another 10 mins to find pic's etc. I see it like an exercise to get something decent published, but in as little time as possible. As I usually do it on a Sunday, it's imperative to not spend too much time on steemit, otherwise my girlfriend gets out this long stick and starts poking me at the computer from her spot on the couch. Sunday is meant to be chill out time and I've been reminded recently that I need to make space for that in my life lol. 🙂

Wow that is amazing writing and all this in five minutes wow

Ha ha, thanks @tattoodjay. I wish I could write all this in 5 minutes. No, it was 3 prompt sentences of 5 minutes, so 15 minutes in total ;-)

Good JJ ok but still great writing

Tranquility, spitballs bouncing left, right and centre with no particular place to go, it was ridiculous.

GREAT line!!!!

GREAT freewrite!!! Thank you for the fun story to read!!!

Hi @snook. I'm glad you enjoyed the wild ride to the moon and back. I thought I'd try some humor in this story, as mine are often so dark, inspired by last weeks collaboration with @jrhughes. That freewrite really tickled my funny bone. It's good to see that the whimsical lines are going down a well 😉 Thanks for stopping by

What a great take on the prompts! and I saw your comment to Byn that you are not pulling the prompts together - What???? You so do!! All your freewrites have been outstanding!

Thanks @mariannewest. All I meant was, that I always have to have my prompt sentences at the beginning of each section whereas Byn managed to kinda weave them into the text, as it were. Thanks a lot for your lovely compliment, I continue to really enjoy the freedom of the weekend free-writes. The fevered pattering of fingers to keys lingers in my mind throughout the week 😉 I always look forward to it as Friday approaches.

FABULOUS!!! I love the challenge of these three part freewrites and you did a fantastic job of incorporating the prompts flawlessly! I especially loved the 'spitting in low gravity" part :)

@byn

Ha, again! Another reader noted the novelty of spitting in low-g.
Fun to see how readers respond to certain things.
:)

Thanks @byn. I was grinning as I wrote the spitting part and afterwards was thinking... is the science actually right lol But it was already published so I have my excuse ;-) I also love the 3 prompt weekend freewrite and at the moment only do the weekend ones because I have a lot of time constraints during the week, but I look forward to these every weekend. Thanks for your lovely comment

You're lucky with me as a reader, because I know nothing about science! I just loved that little detail. It brought a lot to the story. We're happy to have you just on the weekends! I'm going to follow you so I can remember to revisit you :)

The day her mother slapped her face was the day she left the colonies.
That's an awesome line.
And spitting in low gravity... oh the things I would never think of!
And the nano-bots, the sims... you're as good at speculative fiction as you are at fantasy, police procedural, poetry, and more.
I'm impressed!

Thank you @carolkean. As I was saying to brisby, I had a lot of circumstantial, news-based inspiration for this story. But as seems to happen with these weekend free-writes it all coalesced in my mind really well under the time pressure. I am a massive stress monster usually and don't deal with stress well in any other circumstance, but these free-writes the stress seems to help. Maybe I need to quit work and just sit in my house with a stop watch and a gallon of coffee 😉 Thanks for stopping by to my blog, I'm glad you enjoyed this journey to the moon and back.

wow..you wrote that in 5 minutes? That's amazing! Love the stories =)

Ha ha, everyone keeps mistaking this for a 5 min freewrite. I wish I could write something this long in 5 mins, I would be a supper typist and I would use my powers for the good of the written word 😉

This story is a combination of three prompts, each written in 5 minutes and posted back to back (15 minutes in total), in response to @mariannewest weekend freewrite challenge

Thanks for your comment @evecab. Glad you enjoyed the story

ahahah just saw it, my bad! Still great =)

It's a scifreewrite!
