Weekend Freewrite – April 20 2019 - Single Prompt Option – Mishap
I was fat before being fat was cool. Now everyone is fat in the US. Old CDC stats say that 40% of adults are obese and 40% are overweight. That is 8 out of 10 people in 2016. It is higher now.
I feel like I know most of the reasons people are fat, and I know how to get out of it. It’s a mishap. People started poisoning the food while you were not paying attention. Everyone else got fat too, so you did not really feel strange.
I was a fat four year old who kicked obesity to the curb at 50 and have not had a problem since in almost a decade. But I scream my ideas to no one.
In many of my support groups now, the question is not about how to lose weight and get healthy. The question is how to stop mean people from making fun of you and stopping the scourge of “fat shaming.”
This former “whale on the beach” is here to tell you that you cannot change mean people, and there is no reason to try. My common answer to questions like that is to lose the weight so you do not have to worry about it. When I say that, I have a 50% chance of being banned from the group.
QUESTION:
“I’m in online dating groups, and I feel insecure since I am fat. Do any of you have ideas for me?”
MOST ANSWERS:
“You are beautiful the way you are. Don’t worry about it and the right guy will come along who does not care about weight.”
MY ANSWER:
"Stop wasting time in online dating groups. Lose the weight, get healthy, and then try again after that when you feel pride in yourself and feel better.”
Pretty much guaranteed ban with that answer.
But there are many more groups of fat people, so I do not take it personally and just join more groups and try again. Every once in awhile I succeed in helping someone. Sometimes people come ou of the blue and tell me a comment I made long ago somewhere helped them and now they are thin and healthy.
Maybe that is the actual mishap, but I will take it.

I lost "Half My Size" eight years ago by using natural methods. No tricks, just doing a bit better every day. I started on October 10 one year, and did not give up. Four years later, on October 5th, there I was - thin and healthy for the first time in my life. You can do it too!

As you said, because everyone else is getting fatter, so it kinda like "normal" to be fat. To change is not easy but it's possible. Just need a lot of strength to kick start the change.

Howdy fitinfun! I love these freewrites about real life stuff instead of making things up, it's always entertaining, informative and amazing or funny or both, usually both. Like getting kicked out of the overweight groups for giving them truth and great advice gets you banned. That's insane but kinda funny.
