Product Spotlight Series #21 - Organic Hemp Oil Shampoo Bar

in #ecotrain6 years ago

Not only am I dedicated to finding healthier and plastic-free alternatives to our everyday hygiene products, but I’m also invested in finding the cheapest products out there! So while I already showcased Oil&Ash Soap and a Coconut Milk Shampoo Bar, I just found a much cheaper option - an Organic Hemp Oil Shampoo Bar from SummerLandScrubs in Buffalo, WI!

I’m starting to really like hemp - it’s a magical plant with so many uses! Soap is just one of many useful products that can benefit from it!

These 2.5 oz bars are made from great natural ingredients including:

  • coconut oil
  • hemp seed oil
  • castor oil
  • jojoba oil
  • olive oil
  • sweet almond oil
  • Vitamin B5
  • citric acid
  • rosemary essential oil
  • spearmint essential oil
  • peppermint essential oil
  • vanilla fragrance oil
  • cocoa butter

Yay no palm oil!

I chose these shampoo bars because they are made in WI (semi-local) and they are only $2.00! Yup, 2 bucks! They are for all hair types and both hard/ soft water - though results will of course vary based on hair and water type. You’ll also need to give your hair a “detox” period of commercial shampoo/conditioner since they strip your hair!

Do you use any products with hemp or hemp oil? Comment below!

I've never tried a bar of soap for my hair, if it gets foamy enough should work as I have a lot of hair to cover. I buy organic local liquid product atm which requires plastic but the great thing is the bottle are refillable so I can use them or send them back to the shop so they can reuse it. I wanted to try and make my own soaps but I still have got my head round the whole process. I'm not that keen on using lye and the Ash method seems quite lengthy, have u ever made ur own soap?

I have not! I was considering making my own soaps and hygiene products but if I am honest with myself, I'd rather buy them - it just takes research to find one that I like instead lol! I would like to keep using natural liquid soap in a reusable bottle but the only ones I know of are very expensive! I'm talking like $40 a bottle! If you do make your own soap let me know how it goes!

I think there is nothing wrong buying a product made with love and eco minded because after all i literally don't have time to do absolutely everything myself. Yea the bottle I buy does come with a price tag 10 euros but it lasts for ages (mainly because I only wash my hair once or twice a week as my hair is dry thick and curly, If I wash it more frequently it's looses its natural balance

Lucky! I currently wash my hair every day because it gets so oily! I'm trying to slowly get it used to being washed every other day but it reacts like a toddler throwing a tantrum lol

haha i hope ur not disturbed by lack of hair washing! everybodies hair has a different balance so u have to do whats best for u. I used to think i had to wash mine everyday (but i was secretly doing it every second day) because thats what everyone else was doing but it was a frizz ball, out of control, unrulely, really a nightmare! liking the fact i can be super lazy with it now LOL

If I wasn't convinced before... I am now! As soon as my liquid shampoo runs out, I'm giving bars a try. I have veryyyy curly hair so I've been concerned for dryness, but the ingredients in this bar you've shared lead me to believe it could HELP my dry scalp without damaging my hair. Thank you for sharing!
