Jai Ganesh Baba Real Magik! ecoTrain QOTW
The story I am about to share with you is one that I can only call PURE miraculous magic! This story happened to me around the time when I was experiencing some of the most profound, eye opening, spiritual, and enlightening experiences that I have ever had... and I've had a few! I have chosen to share the story of Jai Ganesh Baba because its so simple, sweet, and fun!
This story happened back in 1997 whilst I was on a 5 month journey in India... after finally graduating from University. My entire first journey in India from start to finish was like one very special spiritual experience after another! Anyone who has been to India can probably testify to seeing and experiencing things that are basically beyond anything we can really explain or comprehend.. and they are often SO random like this story!
I had discovered a very special beach on my journey, called OM Beach. This beach is located next to the small and very special Village of Gokarna. Gokarna is a sacred village and also the destination of long pilgrimages by devotees of Shiva and other divine entities that are worshiped by the Hindu culture. The energy in Gokarna and Om Beach is palpable and I know of many people who have their own very amazing stories from that place!

Om Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I had ever been to. It is quite isolated and nestled in a bay of warm seas and palm trees stretching out as far as the eye could see. The entire beach is surrounded by hills and mountains, and the sand was golden soft. There were several small shacks that served food and offered small banana hut style accommodation. When I was there, there was always a good 100 people staying, from all parts of the world. We would hang out there together all day long, in the shaded perfection of a mud shack facing breath taking sea views. It was a great time for me, as I learned one of the great secrets of life. I was never happier in those moments when I had Nothing To Do, Nowhere To Go and was surrounded by amazing people who became close friends. Life was as simple as it gets, and without a care in the world I was truly in the moment.
One day as we were all sitting around hanging out and listening to some music from the tape recorder I spotted a very unusual looking man! This is him below, except when I saw him he was adorned with a vast array of necklaces, strange jewelry and other trinkets hanging of his bags and umbrella.!

I was swinging on my hammock at the front of the shack and there stood Mr Ganesha Baba just looking at us all and checking everything out. He stood there for a few minutes and seemed to want to come inside, but he was hesitant. I wasn't sure what he was waiting for, but I did wonder if maybe the music was too loud or crazy. It was probably Goa trance or something similar.
Then something weird happened!
He had a long wooden stick in his right hand, and he suddenly banged it on the sand three times and at the same time he muttered some words under his breath and then shouted out quite loud... "Boom, Boom, BOOM!"..
On the third boom, and at EXACTLY the same moment as he said it... the music coming from the tape cassette suddenly started playing backwards! What!!! I was very surprised, and went back into the kitchen to see what had happened as it was my tape and this had never happened before! I opened up the machine and have a look at it... Now that was weird.. 'somehow' the tape had twisted itself in the middle... and was therefore playing backwards. Boom indeed. I just turned it off and took my tape back...!
He had my attention.. and he then came in and sat down with us. He emanated SUCH joy and was so jolly and happy. What proceeded was a joyous serenade by him singing, laughing, and tapping his wooden spoons together in a clickity clack way for at least an hour. He was smoking large amounts of hashish from a large Chillum, fed never endingly by appreciative travellers! wOw! Ganesha Baba continued to come and visit us at least once a week for many weeks.... but from then on when he arrived we just turned the music off ourselves! ;-)

My husband tells similar stories of his time in India ( he considers it his second home) and he described the powers that some of the folks have there. A very different world than here in Canada! How fortunate that you were able to experience that! Thanks for sharing the magic!
What an amazing story and what an amazing experience that must have been for you. I believe Asia is full of magic. I've seen a few things I couldn't explain there, and I haven't even been in India yet! Your story reminded me of another Baba. Sai Baba. I have never met him myself, but I had a friend in Singapore whos mother had met him years before that. One day I was at their house and had the worst headache from the moment I had gotten up. Somehow, something told me I needed to go see my friend. So I got on the bus and went to her apartment, where she and her mother and two sisters lived. The headache was getting worse by the minute and at one moment I thought I would faint. I never said anything when I came to their place, as I didn't want to complain or whine. But the headache just became unbearable and so I told my friend. She gave me this little paper envelope and said: put some of that powder on your forehead. I had no clue why, but I was in too much pain to even question it, so I took some of the blue powder and did what she told me to do. And it worked RIGHT AWAY! Only seconds after I put it on, my headache was gone completely. When I asked her what the powder was, she told me: I don't know. But my mother got it, and it came from Sai Baba, and he's magic. I know there have been many conflicting stories about him, but to this day, I have no other explanation than that he actually was...

Indeed unbelivable...such true stories are many in India. Can you imagine that snake bites or scorpions stings can get curated by murmerring few words.... I didn't mention it in my content, but I have seen it years ago......I would certainly like to visit Gokarna sooner...👍

haha.... what a glorious, magical, delightful and typically INDIAN story! Yes, I believe there ARE places in the world where magic is observed more easily, and that Mother India is one of them. The stories in this challenge are the reward, in and of themselves!
