Corner Store
At the Corner store @dsound
I went down to the nickel and dime
At the corner store
I said, “Hey lady won’t you be fine.”
At the corner store
She gave me a pack of gum
At the corner store
I put in my mouth and I chewed it some
At the corner store
Oh so tasty yum yum yum
At the corner store
I walked out the door and I went outside
At the corner store
I was so happy happy inside
At the corner store
We went up the street and we took a left
At the corner store
Made a big bubble and popped it again
At the corner store
Oh Yeah!

My youngest son is now in second grade but sings better than me. We made up this song together. It’s really simple but this is my poem today. Every day I need time to chill out and spend with family. This is turning out to be a great week.
The good news is the Foreign school I applied to teach at in the neighborhood called me for an interview. The bad news is that the starting date is two weeks earlier than I can possibly start. Oh well… Hope they find the right person or call me back when we can work out the time better. Makes me feel good that at least I tried.

Cute, cute, cute! I loved hearing you and your son having fun! That's so special!
Also, I don't remember how much a candy bar cost when I was a kid, but I do remember walking up to a store parking lot in the summertime where a Bookmobile was parked. My friend and I would check out some books to read and then go to the corner drugstore, sit on the stools and order a coke float - oh my that was so good!

I do remember the bookmobiles. When I grew up the was a cornerstore at the end of the block on 16th street. I remember buying stuff for nickels and dimes and a big snickers bar for a quarter. I remember buying smoke bombs and firecrackers.
I haven't had a coke float for the longest time either. Somehow it never caught on in Korea. That is really classic. My son was impressed with the ice cream trucks in America. There are none in Korea.
The good news is there are still a few corner stores existing in Korea and my youngest loves going there. That's why he was enthusiastic to sing this.

Sometimes we believe that the little moments we spend with our children mean nothing to them. It is not like this. Those moments are the great memories that we will have in the future. I tell you from experience.
