On the Antithesis of Dogma

We all know the Republicans vs. Democrats is a shell game in the U.S, the tail wagging the dog. In allowing ourselves to be defined as liberal vs. conservatives, we agree to stereotypes that others have set up for us that are as narrow as 'up or down' and 'left or right'. They are flavorless, confined, and filled with loaded connotations and preconceptions. Who knows by now what they even mean or were intentioned to have meant; they are poisoned labels. The X vs. Y camp scenario follows an adherence to screaming and vitriolic matches that deepen wounds and superficial divides. The binary political dies were cast to facilitate a spectacle of debates that are shells of true discourse. It’s been a productive and frugal way to wedge millions into the cynical divisions that cripples positive change.

A true democratic spirit, on the other hand, is equivalent parts rigor, humility, and honesty. It is a perpetual seeking for improved systems and methods of justice and distribution within the ever uneasy and normally failed relationship between authority and democracy. The great question is will our great access to information, viewpoints, technology and culture makes us ever more educated, or ever more hopelessly confused and all lost on different channels of inference and thought? Currently it seems like a hopeless utopia, but it's up to each one to seek out meaning by lending our perception and focus to issues and ideas that are truly worthy. At the very least, we will be fleeing from the false dogmas.
