To Not understand something (German Course) | Etwas nicht verstehen (Deutschkurs)

You already know many german words and sentences. Now you also want to talk to people from Germany. Maybe you plan a trip to Germany. In many situations you will not understand everything. But it's OK to tell someone that you not understand something. Here is a simple list of sentences you can use.

(Du kennst bereits viele deutsche Wörter und Sätze. Jetzt möchtest du auch mit Leuten aus Deutschland sprechen. Vielleicht planst du eine Reise nach Deutschland. In vielen Situationen wirst du nicht alles verstehen. Aber es ist in Ordnung jemandem zu sagen, dass du etwas nicht verstehst.)

1. Pardon?      -      Wie bitte?
2. What did you say?      -      Was haben Sie gesagt?
3. I do not understand that.      -      Ich verstehe das nicht.
4. What does this word mean?      -      Was bedeutet dieses Wort?
5. What do you mean by that?      -      Was meinen Sie damit?
6. Can you please speak louder?      -      Können Sie bitte lauter sprechen?
7. You speak too softly / too quiet.      -      Sie sprechen zu leise.
8. Can you please speak slower?      -      Können Sie bitte langsamer sprechen?
9. You speak too fast.      -      Sie sprechen zu schnell.
10. Can you repeat that, please ?      -      Können Sie das bitte wiederholen?
11. Can you explain that to me?      -      Können Sie mir das erklären?
12. Please give me an example.      -      Geben Sie mir bitte ein Beispiel.
13. Can you say that in English?      -      Können Sie das auf Englisch sagen?
14. Do you speak English?      -      Sprechen Sie Englisch?
15. Can you help me?      -      Können Sie mir helfen?
16. I need help.      -      Ich brauche Hilfe.
17. Thank you for your patience.      -      Vielen Dank für Ihre Geduld.
