Open Letter from Dapps to @justinsunsteemit

in #delegations4 years ago (edited)

Dear Justin,

Being part of the back bone of STEEM and some of the biggest value creators, as well as accounting for much of the traffic in the Steem ecosystem, the Dapps have made huge contributions and maintained a neutral position in this political battle between yourself and the witnesses.

This morning, the Dapp teams, who have worked so hard for so long and who bring so much value to this blockchain woke to find that their delegations had been removed.

The delegations are used to bootstrap these Dapps and are an important lifeline to help them during their start-up phases.

See the list below to understand some of the changes in the delegations.

Dapps which delegation changed today:

A Way Forwards

We would like to strongly request that Justin restore the delegations.
We would like to request a dialogue with Tron and Justin to discuss a way forwards.

We would like to help you clearly understand that it is in your benefit to delegate to the Dapps on Steem and that this action will help to generate consistent value on Steem as they have been doing until now.

Our main aim is to create the products of tomorrow while bringing value to this ecosystem, in that way we rely on the security of the chain and making sure it keeps operating as independently as possible going forwards ensuring that our Dapp operations are stable and secure.

A Delegation Committee

Steemit inc, in the past has expressed a desire to have a decentralised delegation process that helps to distribute delegations using input from the community. A Delegation Committee was being formed but never used until now. It has an independent, transparent process for assigning delegations to Steem projects. We would like to make Justin aware that this exists and will be of great use for him in the future.

Please see more about the Steem Delegation Committee and its most up to date delegation recommendations HERE

Please Kindly Explain

Would you kindly reach out to us, or explain in the comments why you have removed the delegations of these projects in the comments. We would like to catch up with you to discuss ways to help you manage delegations, what value the dapps create and ways forwards to restore the delegations for the Dapps that create value.

We Do Not Support Freezing of Funds

For the interest of the stability of the chain, our Dapps would like to confirm that we do not support freezing of any stake on this chain in the future.

We Invite Other Dapps to Join this Discussion

We would like to welcome other Dapps, to take part in the discussion about how to better manage delegations from the @misterdelegation account. Please let us know your interest in the comments below.

He doesn't care about anything steem other than and the stake he has. He just wants to assimilate as much of the userbase as possible and bring them to TRON. I had hope that he would open his eyes and see the destruction he's causing, but this one leaves me very pessimistic. The survival of our blockchain cannot rely on this company anymore, it will have to come from the community.

People should focus on his track record. He invests in things to profit from the decline.

The blockchain has been dying for the better part of the last 2 years.

Yes indeed. He has a history of using lies and shady (borderline illegal) tactics to profit.

That is exactly the issue he doesn't see or probably ever will understand. If it were just, I think nobody would even blink an eye about everything. But steem became a platform that goes way beyond a decentralized blog network. It's an actually really well functioning blockchain I would say. Now we see what blockchain tech really is about.

Just in, the Sun will be taking over uranis... What respectful planet would be called your anis, I'm just Sayin... Justin Sun is a shill, that is being funded to cause this problem. We need to gather, like minded people, so we can," FUCK" "JUSTIN, in his newly formed anis. And that's what hes talking like and acting like,"Justin Sun," needs to be our victim. The new economy, the believers in, "STEEMIT", other wise I just went to" Bitchute" and I Like it!!~!!

please restore the delegations

Your begging is funny. Justin is the new owner of key access to huge amount of Steem Power. He does with this stake what he like. Do You know the term Your keys = Your money?
If You want to build a community, do it with community members. Dont build it on somebody else money! During years of delegated SP above dApps gathered more than enough to be sustainable. For free. Many many other Steem projects couldnt even dream of this possibility.

hi @mys
I strongly disagree with you on this. Nobody here has built their apps on somebody else money, we have built our Dapps without any help, with our own efforts, and our own money, and without expecting a delegation, since this was not something that you can count on.

"During years of delegated SP above dApps gathered more than enough to be sustainable. For free. Many many other Steem projects couldnt even dream of this possibility."

We invested our time and our money to develop those apps. So it's not totaly free as you say no?
When Dtube was first released it made a big boom in the cryptoworld and attracted a lot of users and potential investors to Steem... 3 years ago. Same for DrugWars, just to name few... In my opinion the delegation for Dtube at this time was even low compared to the value bringt to the chain... and for DW it has not received any, even while being the biggest Dapps in the world.

Why that? Did anyone of us put a barrier between other apps and Steemit inc? I never did this and supported all dapps who came to this platform. I did it personaly without expecting any profit and I can show you many proofs of my investment as a simple advisor for other projects. I'm always happy to give an hand to a new builder on Steem.
So again I disagree with you, if some apps wanted to obtain a delegation, they could have dreamed of it and probably received it too and this has nothing to do with the SBA and its delegations/apps.

agree with you. time to be independent now, put on the adult pants, or maybe try to talk nicely with justin sun, maybe he will listen if you're lucky...

To be honest... these dapps had delegation for far too long. I see it as a startup bonus... Here have a delegation for 6 months prove us that you are doing something with vision, and gather your own audience. Simply because you have a dapp does not give you rights to have million steem delegations. If you are good enough you will find supporters and start build dapp and community around it even without delegation.

Fundition has misused funds for so long, no one addressed this and they have 0 users on their platform (state of the dapps metrics).

Steemhunt had interesting vision and project - never went deeply into it and apparently has the most users on them all. can't comment anything on that.

Steempress is a nice implementation but so far for being present for 1.5/2 years to only have 20-100 users in 24hours - does that require 1million delegation to go on?

There were numerous talks about dtube and their policy... the I don't care about steem and whatever happens, has been voiced by dtube few times. Why would you support them more? Yet they still have significant chunk of steem delegated.

3speak got their own 1mil... nothing to worry about that - was never delegated in the first place, not sure why it is listed there - might be developed by oracle-D but there there is SPS for development not a delegation...

And oracle-d has also been around for about 2 years - the most supported thing is a football school academy - which their last post was 5 months ago. And the promise of bringing whales and write posts for them... I don't know

hi @svemirac, I guess you are talking about the use of the delegation for supporting and attracting more players to drugwars, and I would like to remember that we never did that for our personal profit, and we did it with the consentement of steemit inc, furthermore this has been stopped as soon as the delegation committee asked us to do so. When they gave us a month to stop the dw voting pattern, we stopped it before a week. And it was not for so long as you pretend it to be.
But as I can see you don't understand Fundition and how it works, in that way you should inspect first how it works before claiming that nobody use it.
Fundition does not necessarily ask to its users to use the platform to make updates, in fact Fundition is the first DApp who permit to use any DApp on the Steem ecosystem to make updates to a project, so any founder can start his project on Fundition but still use Steemit, Steempeak, Dtube, 3Speak, Steempress or any other existent app to make an update to a project, making the statistic of steemapps useless in this case. Same when an user receive a donation, it is not displayed on Steemapps.
Additionnaly, Fundition converted a tons of FIAT and other cryptos to STEEM. Probably much more than many other DApps here.
So if you think this is the most misused delegation, why not, but if you can't even understand that the metrics on SteemApps does not represent the state of fundition, I guess you are fooled in your judgement.

Best regards,

Is this fundition? Hadn't really heard of it before, am not sure this is right

hi @petertag, this is gaming.fundition the little sister of

Do you have disabled javascript? strange that the translations and the numbers are not updated.

Ah, fundition itself does look a lot better. No, I don't, that's why I thought it seemed really weird. Refreshing it got it to show up correctly around 1/3 times, not sure what's up with that. Using brave w/ shields up

No idea where you gathered that for @dtube. Us not running a node and not taking part in governance doesn't mean we don't care about steem. I guess you had nothing to say considering it's probably the delegation that had the least issues over time.

No offense but from what I've seen dtube do over the years, some of it is questionable ethics. Nothing against the good you all have done, but some of the statements I've seen in the past told me that dtube didn't care what happens to steem. It's not to say you want it to fail, but it still made me feel like dtube didn't care. It's all about how you put yourself out there.

It wasn't until they came for YOU and YOUR delegations that you decided to speak out. Not for others, though. Just yourselves. Just saying.

Eventually things catch up to you, so you have to wonder if the way you've been running things is 100% right. And just because something is legal, doesn't make it right.

I think a tier-based delegation system based on milestones achieved would solve a lot of these issues while still supporting the dapps in the ecosystem.

That's a fucking brilliant idea man

I agree.
A lot of truth in this.

I hope you're aware that @oracle-d has brought more than 500k investment to STEEM? Find out and restructure your comment. And oracle-d is way bigger than the Andre Gray Footfall Academy. That takes less than 4% of the curation.

hmmm remind me again about everything this @justyy Dapp has done? I didn't figure you would be a JSun shill... are you just salty that @curie doesn't have a delegation?

If I was I would be running 22.5 on my witness node, and probably got some delegations just like justy.

For the last 2.5 years (my presence in curie) curie didn't have steemit's delegation, and obviously curie doesn't have a dapp - just like all other curation projects. Why would I be salty now because some other dapps had it?

On the other hand, Justy is supporting chinese community and with sorting JS out and supporting him - he gets to advance on the chain, and gets delegation for his community/project.
Some people like to have leaders to follow - he clearly chose his, nothing wrong with that - after all everyone has a choice.

"The paths fork and divide. With each step you take through Destiny's garden, you make a choice; and every choice determines future paths. However, at the end of a lifetime of walking you might look back, and see only one path stretching out behind you; or look ahead, and see only darkness."

JSun "apologist" may have been a better term for me to use than JSun "shill". Coming here to troll these DApps and make it seem like JSun is doing a reasonable thing here is shitty. Period. This wasn't part of some well-reasoned reallocation of delegations, shifting some away from DApps that have had delegation for a long time and delegating to new promising DApps. This is a slash of outgoing delegations to free up more SP for the powerdown and dump. He frickin' removed the delegation from STEEMCLEANERS dude. Get your head out of your ass. I honestly can't believe you would come here and try to justify JSun's actions. You have lost a ton of respect from me.

Trade delegation for witness vote?

For sure. Its relentless

Dear Communists, welcome to the real world!

You had your delegations for years and besides that fact, you were not able to create a sustainable product, nor growing community.

You are pathetic losers.

Now, your delegations are removed to be given to someone who is not a loser.

Meritocracy hurts when you are dumb

Onto deaf ears I fear

We hope not 🤞

Hope is always a good position to have. My hope is that the chain doesn't have to survive on it though :)

I've been concerned about Dtubers losing this delegation pretty much since the day it was given. I feared many content contributors would simply take it for granted. I'm wondering how many Dtubers actually powered up? Is there enough SP available within that community to keep the place afloat for awhile while things get settled? Is this truly a disaster or can they step up to the plate and take care of themselves now?

Justin left us 200K SP, maybe as a sign of good faith? Anyway DTube existed before the delegation model, and was doing fine. We also have our own token opening in May that will allow us to start rewarding new users again if our STEEM delegation is truly rip.

Hopefully this news and the potential loss of income (for now) will encourage people to carry on and try really hard to look out for one another. If I felt like giving advice to anyone today, that would be it. It's so easy to feel defeated around here these days, with more and more seemingly bad news and confusion constantly rising to the top.

I miss the days when a vote from a dolphin like me had some serious power behind it. There's literally thousands of us here who could be helping out if that value was higher... but I digress.

Good luck.

I think this is what it really comes down to. These communities have been around for a long time and the users need to support each other, not succle at the tit of Steemit. Those days are done.

Exactly. People can decide today if they want to act like victims or prove to themselves that entity they despise isn't turning them into the puppets they don't want.

My thoughts and claims are like this.

1,Delegates from Steem Power should be provided to thrive on Steem's hard-working projects.

2,Teams wishing to carry out the project must be able to borrow 2 or 3 times the steem power in proportion to their steem power.

3,Steem power rental is not permitted for accounts with down vote. This is an act that undermines Steem's value.

4,You should not lend steam to a team that sells steam through power off and rental work. This team is not self-reliant.

5,The above account has been positively evaluated, so it's a good idea to rent again to Steem Power. However, I think it should be provided in proportion to your own spa.

모두 힘 내시기 바랍니다.

About 2) you need to understand that dapps need to have some liquid for certain situations, we are young startups. If there is a rule like that, we will stupidly power-up more than we can afford to. What about using liquid steem + steem power?

"4,You should not lend steam to a team that sells steam..."

Steem, not steam.

You're doing more harm to yourself presenting your underbelly to the dictator who isn't even reading. This wave of open letters is getting pretty cringy...

Is 'Reading' considered an activity on blockchain? He is inactive coz he has not made a transaction in last 8 days.

Should have saved your energy...Justin will do what he wants to do regardless of what you say.
