Ba Ranup Ceremony (Engagement)
Ba Ranub is carrying betel as a binding relationship between candidate linto (groom) and candidate Dara baro (bride) or ceremony apply for women and engagement. Previously Ba Ranub ceremony and Ba Tanda ceremony (engagement) Implemented separately, but at this time most of the aceh people to Combine together the two customs in the Ba Ranub ceremony.
Basically in the aceh society to apply for a woman, the male family will send a wise person or selangkee to review the status of the woman and communicate with the woman's family. If the woman is single and No one has applied yet then selangkee will express the intention that he has been sent by the family of a man to apply for the woman, if the communication process went smoothly and the woman's family accepted the proposal, then selangkee and the woman's family will determine Day for Ba Ranub ceremony.
Selangkee will convey to the male family to carry out the Ba Ranub ceremony. At the appointed time, the elders entourage of the male family along with village elders to the home of the woman's parents by bringing the betel as a bonding binder. Also bring a variety of typical foods of Aceh, buleukat, meuseukat, keukarah, bhoi, tumphou, various fruits, and a set of women's clothing and ornamental fixtures woman.
For the betel that become innate arranged like a crown or tower with as beautifully decorated as possible, it takes a special skill to arrange betel by using banana buds that length 100 cm to 1 m (as needed) to be placed in Puan (legged cerana). Banana stem as a place to put betel leaves spirally.
Other congenital is Batee Ranub (cerana without legs) filled with grains. In the middle of the grain was placed a ring or gold necklace as dowry and then cerana was wrapped in yellow cloth.
In the Ba Ranub ceremony will discuss the execution of the wedding day to be held and determine how much Jeulamee (dowry) is required, then forwarded with an engagement ceremony.
