Tradition Aceh The Peutren Aneuk Custom "Lowering the baby"

The Peutren Aneuk custom is a ceremony of aceh tradition that has been implemented by aceh society. The Peutren Aneuk custom also known as Peugidong Tanoh Tradition, the meaning of the Peutren Aneuk custom is a traditional ceremony of lowering the baby to the ground or the ceremony to set the baby's feet to the ground for the first time. The aceh people practice Peatrun Aneuk customs when the baby is 44 days old, but there are also some of the aceh people doing it at the age of 7 days old baby, 14 days, and 21 days are held together with Aqiqah.

The Peutren Aneuk custom ceremony is also intended to introduce the baby to the whole family and community environment. At the Peutren Aneuk custom ceremony the baby is brought to the home page by someone who is considered good in his character and manners, usually chosen is teungku imum gampong or teungku (Ulama) with the aim that the child will follow in the footsteps of the person. Then lowered while being held with the umbrella Ija Batek (batik) held by 2 or 4 people, After that above the baby head in the coconut with the accompaniment of Shalawat to the Prophet Muhammad صلى-ا-لله-عليه-وسلم, then the baby is set on the ground (peugidong tanoh).

Peutren Aneuk custom ceremony has several ceremonial processes, namely :

  1. Peusijuk
    Peusijuk is a ceremonial process of sprinkling water that has been mixed with some plant material by using some stems of plants that are tied to sparking tools, sprinkling rice and sticking bu leukat (sticky) on the forehead of the baby.
    In the ceremony peusijuk also accompanied by the provision of custom money and a gold (ring, earrings or bracelets) from the family to the baby.

  1. Peucicap
    Peucicap is the process of tasting sweet foods on baby tongue like honey, sugar water, sweet fruits and others.

  1. Geuboh nan
    Geuboh nan is the process of naming the baby

  2. Cuko ok (haircut)
    Ceremony process of cutting baby's hair, then hair that has been cut into the young coconut.

  3. Peutron Aneuk or often referred to as peugidong tanoh
    Process Ceremony Peutren Aneuk baby brought to the yard with accompanied marhaban, then lowered while being held with the umbrella Ija Batek (batik) held by 2 or 4 people, After that above the baby head in the coconut with the accompaniment of shalawat to the Prophet Muhammad, then The baby is brought to the ground (peugidong tanoh).

  1. Khanduri
    Khanduri is a meal with family, neighbors and orphans, this event is done after the process of Peutron Aneuk Ceremony finished.
