Gifts from my Heart, Gifts from my Kitchen #8 - Recycled Gift packaging
I feel kind of sad that this will be the last post in my series Gifts from my Heart, Gifts from my Kitchen; hope you've saved empty packaging containers to recycle into gift boxes/ containers.
Coffee bottles or any other food jars with wide necks are handy for storing cookies; wash and sterilise them in a hot oven to remove the food smells. Attach pretty homemade labels.
Do not throw away any boxes - here I've used an empty cardboard box base and lid to pack chocolate treats, wrapped it up in cellophane and tied it with a pretty ribbon.
Cereal boxes come in handy too, cut it down and cover with gift wrap to make a neat container for a selection of Drunken Fruit, Apricot Mustard and Passion Fruit Curd
Tea boxes can be turned into a chocolate or biscuit gift container with a lid - line with tissue paper and fill, tie a pretty ribbon around to finish it off.
Use mesh fresh produce bags to wrap around a bottle of Ouma Lily's Herbal Tonic Spiced Wine or make up a bag of sweet treats and tie with a pretty ribbon.
Gift wrap that will be handy in the kitchen afterwards is a pretty kitchen towel, will also safe-keep your glass jar of cookies. Attach a pretty iced cookie as a final touch.
There are numerous ideas online; used milk or juice cartons can be used to make pretty gift carryalls, empty paper towel holders make neat tubular gift containers. I really wanted to show you more ideas, but ran out of time!
But let's all be aware of lessening our garbage by recycling for our own use as well as partake in recycling projects run by NGO's as well as local government organisations.
