For the Love of Comments, Round 9. Win 200 SP for a month.

“For the Love of Comments” is now on its 9th round. Twice a month a winner is picked to receive 200 SP delegation for one month, with runners up receiving @steembasicincome shares. Backing me up in this is @mattclarke, who, in addition to all the other incredible support he's given me, matches my 100 SP delegation to increase it to 200 SP and @simplymike whose delegation means I get to do this twice in a month instead of once.

Last round was incredible! I had over 20 accounts to go through, some who had more than one recommendation as there were people recommending each other all over the place. What an amazing and supportive community! If we can keep boosting one another up like this, then retention will improve no end.

I went back over previous winners of the delegation. It was sad to see a that a couple have gone inactive, but also heartening to see that three are now minnows (above 500 SP) and some have gone on to become very active community members on here.

I don't always follow those who get these delegations, because they aren't always active in my areas of interest. This is a good thing, because I can't reach all aspects of Steem myself, so supporting these accounts extends my reach through them. Anything that helps the blockchain, ultimately helps us all. Some post in other languages, so it's great to be able to reach into those areas of support too.

This round I'd like to read about communities. Are you already party of a community who you find supportive or is there a community that you think would be of interest to you? Do you have an interest you'd like to see supported on here?

Contest runs for 7 days from time of posting.

I think in terms of community, well at least here on the Steem part of the block-chain there is the monthly meet ups that we have at The Jade. I find that supportive and find out what people are doing, what their plans are and what they have definitely stopped doing and the reasons why.

But another really supportive community that I love contributing to is the Food Fight Friday competitions. Regardless of what else I am doing on the block-chain to earn Steem or provide my support to others, this is a weekly food photo / story competition that anyone can enter, that I can look forward to engaging in. There are no real prizes outside of supportive comments and a larger number of upvotes from more people reading your food based content. Some have suggested Tasteem, but I have found their criteria to be rather restrictive. In fact, I find a lot of the criteria to a lot of what people do on Steem to exclude a lot of people.
I am bigger than a hashtag and refuse to limit myself to one community, and to paraphrase Grouch Marx, I wouldn't join a club that would have me as a member.

There are so many communities that it's probably best to just stick with the ones that work for you. I certainly get that some communities can be a bit too restrictive. I much prefer the ones which aren't restrictive, or at least only put provisos on certain benefits, like our Frog, which are perfectly optional.

I think if a community is important enough for you, then it can be worth the restrictions, but if you only have a passing interest, then you might not want to make that commitment. I've only looked at Tasteem in passing, because I've wondered about doing a post on a couple of cafes/restaurants, but I'm not majorly into eating our and restaurant reviews. The Food Fight Friday ones sound like a good middle ground. I'll have to have a look at the tag.

I agree. Frogcake is out little treasure. All it takes is a comment or two to make it really pay off. Plus it often pays out better than most of my delegated investments. I do wish that I had joined Steemit and understood all of this AND we had these dApps back when Steem was US$9. But you can only play the cards you're dealt.

Some groups wanted daily posting and upvoting of a post within a group. Not too bad, but if you missed as much as a day, you'd be kicked out. I wasn't even given a chance before they blocked me on discord.

Others claim to be about 'free speech' but operate with centralization and censorship. Shrug.

But the Food Fight Friday is one where you just have to have a food based story that people can vote on with a few photos of the food in question, and maybe some story related images.

Daily posting! I think I've only ever managed that for a week twice. Even if you're writing great content, there comes a point where people are going to struggle to read everything, unless they're on here all day. Most people follow multiple accounts.

Hey @minismallholding!
That's a really nice idea as a contest.
I'm Luca, from Italy part of the Italian steem community and BuildTeam (and many other communities).
The interested I'm really developing is the one towards drones. In fact I launched a big project on steem to reunite and create a drone community that will use the Steem platform as main social media outlet to showcase videos. I also created a tokenbb forum linked to it where upvotes are 100% SP, which is Drone Shot.
You can read a lot more about the project I started, which is currently in the raking support phase. I'll start buy expensive equipment in a month or so!

DroneShot

PS Thanks @mattclarke and @simplymike to support this initiative, sometimes all we need is just a bit of boost to do great stuff on steemit!

A drone community sounds good. I hope it gets off to a good start.

I am apart of a Facebook Group called Adelaide Northern Suburbs Community Group.
When I moved from the Southern Part of Adelaide, there was nothing in the North.
The Southern group had 12,000 members and it baffled me that there was none in the north.
Over the last 3 years I have grown it to over 1300 members.
Thanks to my group, someone from the UK was looking for a long lost friend and knew they lived in Adelaide, they posted in my group and lo and behold by chance, someone knew the person, after 30+ years of being out of contact they spoke on the phone (In Their 70s) .. and that is why I love community groups.

I am very new to Steem it, but I am loving the community here, it's great to see such a strong and well supportive community.

Thats a wonderful story! Did you start that group yourself then? I'll have to look it up, as I'm in the north.

Maybe you've healed from your op you could start a Melbourne group up for Steem. Team Australia is great, but it's hard to meet up physically of you want to.

Yea I am the admin of the group. If you have any issues finding out let me know.

I'll think about the Melbourne group for sure :)

Thank you for this.

There is this small community I found interesting that was brought up by @johndoer123 which is called @doerminnows. Their goal is to suppor and assist newbies like me especially the area of Resource Credit. You could consider checking them out and showering your own support too in order for them to grow and expand.

Thank you.

I saw your resteem from John's account. I'd not come across @doer-minnows before that, though. Glad to see you got a delegation from the community to help you along. Keep up the good work.
