Hey peoples! Nice to see you again. :)
We're really getting close to the end of the second season now!

There should be a total of 3 more rounds, I'm probably going to do another one tomorrow and then one more next Saturday and Sunday.
That's the plan anyways! Whew.. What an adventure. :D

I'll probably make a more in depth post as I think about this more, though I'd like to say that two of the main highlights in my opinion are that we got support from @curie and also that we did a really cool quest to come up with "new words".

Both of those things are pretty amazing to me, the support from curie I think is major and now we can double prizes and pay for the judges and the quest to come up with new words is just super awesome in my opinion as I can see how it may develop into the future where we may someday have quite a few words for our culture!

I can see it in my minds eye.. Having a good selection of unique words that we can use to communicate with each other and the new words our players created were all pretty awesome! I'm super impressed.

One other thing I wanted to say is that.. And I've mentioned this before but I wanna go into a lil more detail is that since us judges are so behind on our judging duties, we're going to have to take a lil break from the contests after the regular season ends and it's going to take us a while to judge all the rounds we are behind on.

I don't know how long it will take, I think we have 15 rounds to judge.. So.. It might be a while before we start the finals. But.. I will make sure to personally find everyone who scored at least 1 point and notify you a couple weeks before we're ready to start to make sure you have enough time to get ready or give your spot to someone else if you think you'll be too busy to play in the finals.

And yeah if you didn't know, you can give your spot to someone else to play for you if you are too busy to play in the finals, and then if they win you can split up the prize however you want.
Okay.. I think that's it for now! Thanks for going on this epic adventure with me! I truly appreciate all of you who play in this game and who are a part of or who support the IFC community. :) Much love and onto the next quest!

The subject of our seventeenth quest is.. "Deliberators Help A Beginner Quest".

This is one we did last season which was created via the challenge we had for the players to come up with a new contest idea.

Speaking of such, we still haven't judged that round for this season so.. We'll probably have to wait until season 3 to implement the winner of this seasons create a new contest quest.

Anyways.. This is one of my favorite quests cause I like the quests that are designed to help others and lets face it, steem can be a rather daunting and intimidating place to get started especially if you're not super good at computers.

I think a good way to give back to the community is to help the new people and when I have time I still do my best to go to the #introduceyourself tag and help new people by offering advice and letting them know I'm there to try to help or answer questions they might have.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to do that as much as I'd like cause I'm so busy, BUT I think it's a really important and good thing to do to spend some time when you can to try to help newcomers.

The goal of this quest is to find someone new to steem and help them get started on the platform. ALSO.. Since the IFC contest has been opened up to Facebook and other social media and basically anyone with access to email.. I'm going to expand the rules a bit and say that you can submit an entry on helping a beginner at anything.. It doesn't have to be steem! Just do your best to help someone who is new at something. :)

I hope that explains everything good enough? If you still have questions feel free to ask and I'll respond as soon as I can. Also I'm going to include some links from last season below if you want to learn more about how other players made their entries last time and stuff like that.

Here's a link to the round from last season if you wanna check it out and get a better idea of how this works.

This was also one of the rounds we did for the championship, here are those two entries if you'd like to check them out.

sponsors.png

We have received assistance and 165 steem from @curie and 10steem from @underground and I have confirmed that @ats-david @krnel @timcliff and @ura-soul will also be supporting us this season.

Curie, underground, ats-david, krnel, timcliff, and ura-soul are all witnesses, so if you support what we are doing here at the IFC please look into them and give them a vote for witness as well. By the way to vote for ats-david you should vote for his @ats-witness account.

Also it looks like @ecoinstar will donate 100 shares of steembasicincome to the winners, with 60 SBI going to the grand prizer winner, 25 SBI to second place and 15 SBI to third place.
And thanks to @bengy for delegating 25 steem. :)
A special thanks as well to @davemccoy and @newbiegames and @newbieresteemday who are not technically sponsors but we have worked with them in the past. Looks like newbiegames and newbieresteemday have been inactive for months though we still use their tags for the time being.

The challenge will finish after 7 days when the post ends and provides its payout cycle or when all entries have been submitted.

25% of the post payout goes to curation and after that what's left will now be split up 75% to the winner of the round and 25% to put towards building up the @ifc account.

For those who play via email.. This will be recorded and saved for you, and.. If you're unwilling to make your own steem account we will at some point be willing to convert it for you to whichever currency however.. Not for small amounts, you must earn at least 10 steem for us to take the time to do this for you.

Wait. I don't understand a few things here. I get that we're supposed to "help a beginner" but how will we decide a winner in this situation? I mean, what's the criterion on which our "performance" will be judged?

Is it based on the number of people you help or the quality of help that you provide to an individual (time spent helping each person) because if it's only about the numbers then people wouldn't want to spend too much time explaining things to just one person, which defeats the whole purpose of the contest.

Please reframe what exactly are we supposed to do when you say "help" and what's the criterion based on which our help will be measured/compared/judged.

Thanks for the question. To answer, there isn't really a set of defined criterion.. It's like most of our quests in the sense that the judges will decide which entries they like most based on their personal opinions.
Each judge is different so one may vote based on an approach they liked whereas someone else like myself will likely vote based on how effective someones entry was.. Though I do like to look at everything and make my decision on the whole picture, but for me personally.. On rounds like this one I tend to pick the entries that were most effective.

For example last season I picked Youhavewings for this round in the championship round because she communicated very well with the beginner she picked and continued to follow up and check on her beginner after the initial post she made. And unfortunately the beginner magicalmoonlight picked didn't reciprocate or even respond as far as I remember? So for me, I don't just consider the initial post and how well it was worded and presented but I also consider how the beginner responded to it and how well the the IFC player continued to communicate even after the post and if they continued helping them even after the post.

I hope that helps to answer the question but ultimately as I said it's similar to most of our other rounds and the judges are all different and may vote on a particular entry for different reasons than I would. If you have any more questions or if I missed anything please lemme know?

PS I see you mentioned or asked about if it's the number of people helped and so far I can't remember any competitor who helped more than one person. They all picked one person from what I can remember, though there's no rule against helping multiple people and would probably help or look better in the eyes of the judges if you did help multiple people.. Yet once again, it really depends on the individual preference of each judge how they end up voting and I can't speak for the others but for me as I said I try to look at the whole picture and the end results mean more to me than the initial presentation.

What do I look like? A psychiatrist? I helped my wife shovel some snow off of our porch this morning... does that count?

No?

Ok then, here's my entry...
