Fly to the Mountains 飞进雪山

The New Year’s day was the last day we stayed at the South Island of New Zealand. The next morning we would leave and transfer at Auckland. Nobody wants to leave the beautiful island. So we decided to take airplane trip to the heart of the mountains. Called around and found airplanes available at Rangitata Valley and drove there. We arrive there one and half hours later. The airport looks like a farm. We almost missed entrance if we did not see the two small airplanes on the grass.

I took 6D DSLR and iPhone with me. The iPhone has some advantages to take photos in the narrow cockpit, because it’s small and the lens can be very close to the window. DSLR’s shutter is faster enough to freeze the propeller. The propeller on the iPhone photos is weird. We flew over the snow capped mountains, glaciers, lakes, and rivers. The view from the airplane was breathtaking.

新年是我们在新西兰南岛的最后一天。第二天我们要去奥克兰转机离开这里。为了不留遗憾，我们决定乘小飞机去看雪山。打了一轮电话找到了一家在Rangitata河谷的公司，开车就去了。一个多小时我们到达了机场。机场像个大草坪，与其说机场更像一个农场。我们错过了入口看到草坪上两架小飞机才知道走过了又折回去。

我带了数字单反6D和iPhone。狭小的机舱里拍照iPhone还更有优势，因为可以更靠近窗户，甚至把镜头放到通风孔外面。只是手机拍螺旋桨会出现很多平行的叶片。而单反的快速快门几乎可以把螺旋桨凝固。飞机上看雪山、冰川、湖泊、河流美不胜收。
