The village by the west coast and the foot of the high the mountains is close to Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier. West coast of New Zealand has plenty of rainfall and the temperate rainforests grow there. Rainforests and Glaciers meet in the valley. During the days we stay, it was raining all the time. Sometimes, the rain pours. Creeks flooded. Stones fell to the road. Workers cleaning up the debris in the heavy rain. At some other places, I won't go to the mountains during such weather conditions. However, in New Zealand I can trust the managements of the authorities. Because of the heavy rain, parts of the trails were closed. We can only watch the glaciers at far distance.

酒店所在的村落位于新西兰南岛西岸雪山的脚下，附近有两条冰川：弗朗兹约瑟夫冰川和狐狸冰川。西岸雨水充沛，分布着温带雨林。在茂密的山谷里雨林和冰川交织在一起。我们在那里时基本没见到晴天，一直阴雨不断，时而暴雨倾盆。两条冰川的山谷里溪水暴涨，有些路段出现落石。有落石的地方，工人在大雨中清理。这样的天气和地理状况如果在其他些国家我也许不会贸然进山。但是在新西兰基本可以信任他们的管理。两条冰川山谷都还开放，但是最里面被禁止通行。有洪水危险的地方都有工作人员在巡逻指挥。由于不能走近，只能远远地观望蓝色的冰川。
