in #cn7 years ago (edited)

This is the entry of @jubi's Google Contest # 7 and the theme this week is "Hobby". If you look into my front page, you will find about 70-80% of my post now are about illustration. Thus, the most favourite one and I also bring it to Steemit is DRAWING !
(English version in the latter part)

About Drawing

The last one is watercolour drawing. I started this hobby few years ago. One day, I found an old pack of watercolour tube at home. The oil and pigment at the top were separated, but the left were still fine. I squeezed it in to the palette box, let it dries as solid form.

I also searched many basic knowledge of watercolour, e.g. different kind of pigment and their sources. However, usually stopped at the chemistry part.

Also, technical and haul blog and youtube video. No missing of those famous brands, like Sakura, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Schmincke, MG, Holbein, Whitenight...

Like many other fields, the quality of final product depends on the users. I believes that good quality of tool is necessary. However, the interpretation of "good" varies between people. To me, I can only afford middle price. A set of 12 colours Whitenight, 24 colours Van Gogh, some special colour for specific works (too lazy to mix every time). The primary school set becomes my urban sketch equipment.

Paper is a bit difficult to choose. As most of art supply shops here do not have sample. Only choose by people's recommendations and the information on package. Bought and tried some. Now, I have some favourite kind of papers.

I do not dig deep into brush. Only basic beginner set because my illustration does not required too high level brush now. Mosr of them are nylon and a sable.

Too many nice tools on the world. Now, I tend to stick with what I have, keep practising. May be in the further stage, I will try out other professional tools. By the way, the Van Gogh matches me quite well:P

Of course, welcomed to see my illustration through links under backnumber^^

It is my biggest hobby from my childhood. From kindergarten, art is my all time favourite lesson. I am not so creative, mostly drew what I saw.

Only one time, I felt weird and upset. When I was small my ear and nose always had problems. I went back to school and the teacher asked me to finish a fish collage, which was supposed to be finished yesterday, in the corner. I did know how to tell the reason, but I did not enjoy it.

When I was in primary school, I still like my art lesson very much. There is a cupboard like area, storing every A grade works of students from different years. I always looked into it and dreamed if someday there is my work inside.

And finally, in the sixth year, one of my work was in! It was a clay mask. At that time, I was attracted by Gothic style and dark theme. Mainly because of Beetlejuice. I can still remember some parts. A worn is coming out from the face, some checks, and blood. Mainly black and white with bloody red.

Today, may be a student made this mask will be send to see social worker or doctor? But my teacher put it into the "trophy area".

After school, usually drew anime character, e.g. Sailormoon. The folding of mini skirt spent me a lot of time. Also, like Captain Tsubasa, the unreasonable length of leg was so difficult to handle! Some simple characters like Sanrio's Keroppi, I drew it very well. In the Chinese Language textbook, next to a poem, there is a yellow crane. I like it very much and all subjects' books were filled with crane at that time...

In the secondary school time, teachers introduced different kind and schools of art styles. Then, let us try to apply in painting. Also, different kind of medias were also included. Like sculpture, pottery, rubber cut print, sketching, etc.

also enjoyed drawing the eyes, respiratory system, lol.

However, by starting the life of certificate examination candidate, art classes were always replaced by other major subjects. The most frequently drew are math's curves and weather symbols mark and rocks.

The missing of art in cert exam did not affect I entering university. I studied movie and animation.

Drawing seems the basic requirement, every one will practice in their own way. And some people does not draw, but they mainly spend their time in game and CG software programming. Training is basic and more for exploring is the principle.

Some people say hobby become boring if it becomes job. True. Always thinking the script, the production side, the CG, etc. Cannot enjoy and entertaining sometimes.

As a small potato, usually only see the full final final final version of movie in theater. Actually, it is happy to see the name in the ending credit and some scenes made by myself. Sometimes feel weird if the scene consumed one week and still not perfect. But, nothing worst than after seeing the whole film and find the scene was cut, lol.
