Classical-Music Curation 5th May 2018

in #classical-music6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the roughly once weekly curation of all the interesting stuff that has crossed in front of the #classical-music community this last week!

Well, you might have noticed, I've done away with the numbering system. It's too tricky to keep track of when I have multiple things across multiple accounts. So, I've decided to go with an old fashioned numbering system that was eventually widely adopted near the beginning of the last century.

Okay, in the last curation I mentioned that if I resteem you more than once a cycle, then you would only receive one share. After thinking it over, it is not really that fair to people that create great content, so I will do the extra legwork and tally up your shares (1 per resteem). I will be doing this to the last post as well.

Please post in #classical-music if you want the support of the two community accounts (@classical-music and @classical-radio). The accounts are manually curated and it is too time consuming to chase posts all over Steemit!

Please help us out by flying the community colours, the cut and paste code is the Discord.

If you haven't done so already, consider following the curation trail at SteemAuto and also following @classical-radio on your fanbase. Easy to do, helps support the community (and by extension yourself) and you get easy curation rewards!

Comment, upvote and resteem (this and each other)! As we grow as a community, the rewards for everyone grows! If you are of a size that can afford a small (or giant) delegation this is made easy via this tool at Steembottracker! Any size helps, and will help the community grow stronger together!

I've also started to adopt some posts from the Jazz, folk and world-music genres. Nice to be inclusive!

I promise to myself that I will try to do the curation about every 5 days or so, such that there is still time left on your posts for upvotes. That, and I don't have a backlog of posts to write about....

HALL OF FAME

Wow, this was an eventful week for our little community with two great entries into the Hall of Fame.

After an extended period of leave from Steemit to go on a real world holiday, @tin-tin knocks it out of the park with this amazing write up about one of Handel's most famous works.

This was closely followed (or preceeded, there's so much going on...) by @moccamonica and her performance of Lullaby of Birdland.

Both posts are definitely worth a visit and a testament to the great stuff that we have bubbling away in our community!

LISTENING

@guifaquetti is one of most prolific posters and supporters, he flies the community colours (hint hint!). This week was no exception, and we have some great performances from him. Francisco Tarrega - Estudo em C Maior, Matteo Carcassi - Andante Religioso, Matteo Carcassi - Allegretto and Francisco Tarrega - Lagrima

Comparing different performances of a musical work is always interesting, different performers bring different interpretations and meanings to exactly the same piece of music. @freyman does two comparisons, the first being Joaquín Rodrigo: Adagio del Concierto de Aranjuez and the other Duke Ellington: Caravan.

@rosatravels and @silentscreamer brought as a great collaboration of My Way. Now the big question, did @silentscreamer go to Asia, or did @rosatravels go to Europe?

Friday night is Classical night for @wilfredn, this week he brings us Studio Ghibli 25 Years Concert

One of our newer members, @mariajruizb gives us a rendition of Granada whilst @laviq gives us Tango en Skai by R. Dyens for their Open Mic entries.

@digitalopus is a master of the mandolin, I love the playing for his performances of the First movement - Allegro and the Last movement from the Concerto di mandolino a solo by Domenico Caudioso. Wow, it is amazing play, I could listen to the last movement all day!

@askeb brings us some unusual Classical music in Caroline Shaw - Partita for 8 Voices (1. Allemande). Keep an eye on this guy, I think he cleaned up the last "Guess the Music" post....

Another newcomer to Steemit, and hopefully seeing more of in this community is @lifeinblue, with this A little Rainy walz (original composition including improvisation). Amazing stuff!

READING

@guifaquetti is also writing great posts as well, his @recordpool song of the day write up about "Atomic Mr Basie" album by Count Basie is a nice read about a classical Jazz album.

From @antikesdenken we have Gedanken zum Sommer von Vivaldi · Thoughts on Summer by Vivaldi, mostly in German, so brush up on your language skills!

@tin-tin continued a streak of great writing with Music Literacy and Early Childhood, the importance of early childhood education (in music, and other things) can't be overstated.

@zpedro lets loose with some Classical rage before switching to Educator mode to teach us about harmony

Uhhhh, this is a round plug and it goes into the round hole. That's my knowledge, luckily @laviq is here to tell us more about [Using a 2 channel audio interface with an external effects processor)(https://steemit.com/howto/@laviq/using-a-2-channel-audio-interface-with-an-external-effects-processor)

ME ME ME!!!!

Because of this monster, I have not so much time to write as I would like. But this week I did get to collect some of my Steemit music postings. I also wrote a little piece about Crypto for newcomers, Why invest? that I'm quite happy about.

Administration stuff

All the SBD from the last curation has been paid out. My writing allocation returns back to 25% again, unless there is another large upvote like last time, in which case I will decrease it again! All posts featured here share in the rest of the SBD payout!

SBD shares from the last post are on the way!
