Song of the day - "Atomic Mr Basie" album by Count Basie (1904 - 1984)
"Hoje" 4 de maio de 1959 aconteceu o primeiro o "Grammy Music Awards", um importante premio criado para celebrar os destaques da produção artistica do ano anterior. Em sua primeira edição, duas cerimônias separadas foram realizadas simultaneamente no mesmo dia; uma no hotel The Beverly Hilton em Beverly Hills, Califórnia, e o outro no Park Sheraton Hotel em Nova York.
As categorias celebradas foram as seguintes: melhor álbum infantil, melhor álbum de comédia, arranjo e composição, country, jazz, show musical , notas e fotografias, pop, produção e engenharia, R&B, e documentário.
Na ocasião o album "Atomic Mr. Basie" de Count Basie ganhou o premio como o melhor album de grupo de jazz do ano de 1958, e como a melhor performance de uma orquestra de dança. Também conhecido como "E = MC2", o disco é um dos mais emblematicos da carreira de Basie, recebeu a nota 5 estrelas pela Allmusic, e é o 837º mais aclamado de todos os tempos, no livro "1001 Álbuns que você deve ouvir antes de morrer" de Will Fulford-Jones.
The Atomic Mr. Basie, foi gravado em outubro de 1957, relançado em 1994, o disco que contava com 11 faixas ganhou mais 5 faixas bonus, incluindo uma versão vocal por Joe Williams da música "The Late, Late Show". "Today" May 4, 1959, happened the first "Grammy Music Awards", an important prize created to celebrate the highlights of the artistic production of the previous year. In its first edition, two separate ceremonies were held simultaneously on the same day; one at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and the other at the Park Sheraton Hotel in New York.
The categories celebrated were: Best Children's Album, Best Comedy Album, Arrangement and Composition, Country, Jazz, Music Show, Notes and Photographs, Pop, Production and Engineering, R & B, and Documentary.
Count Basie's "Atomic Mr. Basie" won the award as the best jazz group album of the year 1958, and as the best performance of a dance orchestra. Also known as "E = MC2", the album is one of the most emblematic of Basie's career, received the 5-star rating by Allmusic, and is the 837th most acclaimed album in the book "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before to die "by Will Fulford-Jones.
The Atomic Mr. Basie was recorded in October of 1957, reissued in 1994, the disc that counted on 11 tracks gained 5 more bonus tracks, including a vocal version by Joe Williams of the song "The Late, Late Show".
