I think I will go with a theme of the leading image being a spectacular music photo fail or a funny picture. Gets away from the serious image of classical music.

Anyway, the past week has a been a week of growth for the #classical-music community. At last count we are around 12 people!

We are slowly but surely gathering posters to the tag and also we have begun our own Dischord server: https://discord.gg/ppVmmgt

I am going to be looking out for original videos/audio and write ups (you must be one of the performers or the writer), so please resteem and let your musician friends know of the #classical-music tag. Live performances are preferred!

Audio and Visual

Beginning our listening tour this week is the guitarist @guifaquetti, with two pieces Andante Religioso by Carcassi and Varanda by Vasco Martins.

Next up, are two original compositions on electronic instruments but in a Classical-like style. The first Legend by @dnpq is an epic soundtrack with orchestral scoring. The second composition, Doxology by @cmp2020 has a more serene religious atmosphere.

Finally, a new post by the local resident orchestra (@musicapoetica) of a virtuosic soprano aria by Hasse, round up of previous performances and some unexpected photos.

Reading

First up, we have a lengthy write up from @mateonav53 about the beloved suite from Gustav Holst "The Planets" and another from @guifaquetti about the equally famous "1812" overture by Tchaikovsky.

Two write ups by @tin-tin is next up. The first is a famous anecdote about the death of the composer, Lully and the second is a recounting of an embarasssing moment in rehearsal.

@tomista takes us through the pains of composing a new piece. whilst @monadnock puts forward an intriguing point, in his provocatively titled Music Education meets hot air.

Lastly rounding out the selection is a couple of posts by @bengy (disclaimer, me), about the obscure link between Firefly and Beethoven and another introduction to another of his trade tools.

Prize Quiz

And now the moment that everyone has been waiting for. Money, or at least SBD!

Who can name this piece? It is an easy one to start with, and it has been transcribed for many instruments. Second correct reply will win 1SBD, read that properly, to try and get around google searches it will be the SECOND reply. If no one gets it, or if there is only one correct answer then there is a alt prize of 0.1 SBD for the closest answer.

Please let any classical musicians or classical music lovers that you know to subscribe to @classical-music, and to start using the #classical-music hashtag, so we can try and grow our community! Join us at our Dischord: https://discord.gg/ppVmmgt

Hi @bengy,

Thank you for this continuation of your curation post series. There's a lot of good content here, and the prize quiz is a fun and creative twist.

We shared your post on the Steemit's Best Classical Music facebook page, and included in our latest Roundup post.

Thanks! Soon I will not be able to include everyone that posts, that is a good thing!

Thanks for the mention. I am not sure what it is. I want to say it is from Beethoven's 9th Symphony because you said it has been transcribed for numerous instruments, and Beethoven's 9th is also in D Minor. It definitely seems like it is from a development section because the key seems to be changing pretty rapidly from the music that you gave. However, it appears to be for piano and solo instrument in this case. The instrument obviously is in the treble clef, so that led me to believe it is from a Violin Sonata (either the first or last movement because it has to be in common time (or cut time), and be Sonata allegro (because it seems like a development). So therefore, I think this could be a movement from either of the Brahms or Schumann Violin Sonatas in D Minor. Good challenge! Again, thanks for mentioning my piece!

Oof, lots of analysis! Along the right track for many things! But not a direct hit!

Thanks for the mention @bengy, I still have no idea about this music, I hope to know soon!

You can try to guess! Maybe I should add a prize for closest.

I don't know, maybe it is a second moviment by the some work for piano and violin

On the right track...

2nd movement Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano by Cesar Frank

You were first correct, but according to the rules of the game not the winner!

My Piano teacher knew it right away. Franck Violin Sonata in A Major Movement 2

Yes, second correct! And thus the winner! Congratulations, at post payout I will send your prize.

Wow, that is some spectacular playing. Never heard this piece before, thanks for sharing. Guess i should start listening more and composing less :)

Thanks for the mention!

Okay, next time a tougher quiz! This went down in less than a day.
