Charitable deeds, let's crowd-fund for kids in Bangladesh, fruits and snacks every week, nr. 39

in #charity6 years ago (edited)

Good evening and hi! To everyone dropping by! I will start by stating that all proceeds from this post will go to @SchoolForSDG4, created by @Azizbd, to help host a weekly fruit program and/or provide educational materials for the kids.

Here is the @SchoolForSDG4 page

Another week has passed us by. The thing is, though... The kids are on holidays! So school life is out. But that does not mean that there is no news! @Azizbd is planning to make a lunch program tomorrow and the products are already prepared. There is a new room added to the school. The students finally received the book that @geke sent a while ago. See? There is a lot going on! So, let's jump right into it!

So, tomorrow the monthly lunch program takes place. The ingredients for the meal are already bought and ready to be used. It is going to be a filling meal just like the last time. Eggs, potatoes, chicken. You name it! A dish with rice named ''Birani'' will be on the menu as well. I must admit, it is very interesting for me to learn about those new things as I found out about new dishes every time there is a school lunch program. The difference distance makes...

Another great news! @Geke's book finally arrived. It is an Economy book for children that you can read more about here, in an older post by Geke herself! The book is not only going to teach valuable lessons to the kids but also help improve their English. And, as the economic lessons are presented in a form of stories, the kids will have the opportunity to train their imagination. This thing is a triple threat!

Also, we waited a long time for the book to arrive. Sometimes post offices and customs departments are a pain in the ass!But at least the pages were not lost. And as the saying goes, ''It is better late than never''. Thank you @Geke, for the amazing work you have done creating the educational materials!

Another great news. The school has an additional room! The owner of the property agreed to build it! So, now the little ones will have more space and places to let their creativity and knowledge grow! Right now it is just a room but I am sure it will become one of the best classrooms ever! A couple of books. Something to cover the floor so the kids can sit in comfort, and we are ready to go! It also looks spacious enough. Maybe now the kids from different grades will not have to sit in the same space and learn over each other! :)

As I mentioned last week, it is exam time in my favorite school. For elementary students it is already over (grade one and two). Grade three has two exams left to do and they will finish writing them on 6th of May. The holidays will end on 7th of May for all. So, the kids are back at school starting the new week! I hope they get to have some fun on their holiday. Plus, the fact that they get lunch program during it is amazing! Full bellies, happy children.

Also. This month, till today (15th of April till now), the school has raised 346.962 SBD and 4.772 STEEM, so it is going good and it seems the income will stay in surplus!

This week has been kind of amazing. There are a lot of good news for the kids. I hope we continue on at the same pace and everything goes smoothly for the little ones. It was great catching up with you guys!

Thank you! It is great of you to do this! And it is most definitely appreciated!

@azizbd already visited my blog to say thank you. I promised to support the initiative with little tokens whenever i can.
Thanks for the kind words.

Wonderful initiative!

As someone who grew up in the Western world, I never took my situation for granted, especially after I had the privilege to travel to financially less fortunate countries. The light in the eyes of even the poorest person shines bright! And the kids regardless where they live are our future. I don't trust charitable organizations so the best way is to connect with people and to give directly to those people you know. Thank you for all you do!

Yes! Charities grab a huge chunk out of the donations they receive. You never know where the money goes either. Which is sad as the organizations that are supposed to help oftentimes work solemnly for their own profit.

I remember being reluctant in the beginning, when I started working with the project. You, know. Always be careful and you never know who is sitting on the other side. But I have seen so many great things done here. Backpacks, fruits, lunch. Books, gifts from other steemians. I see where the money goes. And I trust the creator of the project. One day I will definitely go visit him! I want to meet the kids. Maybe even teach some English there. Nothing serious, just the stuff I am sure about. The basics.

Agreed! My extended family is from the Philippines and I know that most of the charitable help for the frequent natural disasters doesn't get to the people in need. I met my wife because like you I choose to help locals directly instead of going through charitable channels. I hope you get a chance to visit your school project!

I think I will. I have been a part of it for almost a year now and I do not think I am going to stop anytime soon. It might not be this year as I have more and more things thrown at me that I have to do. But next year I would love to go there, to Bangladesh. :)

This is the type of content I want to support with my @steemfunder account. I'm commenting and tagging from my main so that I can easily find this.

This is what I love about the Steem platform! The hearts of steemians combined with the means to make a real difference in people's lives. Thank you @lindahas for sharing this with us.

Thank you for all the love! It does mean a lot for the kids. Their monthly wages(child labor) are around 20 to 25$ a month. It shows how different the monetary system is in varying places. Steemit can do wonders in Bangladesh! :)

Thank you again!

This is so awesome! @tipu upvote 1 SBD
