1994 Porsche 911 Speedster

Another great lot during the Petersen Automotive Museum Auction, next weekend, RM Sotheby's will auction this stunning black 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster for about $US 150,000.
And the series of photos is perfect, beautiful mural in background (if someone knows something about it, don't hesitate to comment...).

History of the Porsche 911

We start with a little introduction of the first 911. When Porsche wanted to improve its 365 a completely new model has to be created for more space for the occupants. Ferdinand Porsche, the eldest son of Ferry Porsche was in charge of the design while his cousin Ferdinand Piëch developped the engine. A real family business... The new model was presented at Frankfurt in 1963 as the 901 but thanks to Peugeot changed to 911 (Peugeot claims the right to three-digit car with zero in the middle).

This Porsche 911 Speedster is the third generation presented in 1994 and based on the 911 cabriolet. The main upgrade was the electric rear spoiler that rose automatically at 65 kmh for a better aerodynamic. Less than 1,000 examples were produced in 1994.

Specification

With five-speed manual transaxle, the Porsche 911 Speedster has a 3.6-liter air-cooled SOHC flat-six engine producing 247 hp. The Speedsters can reach a top speed of 263 kmh.

This model is finished in black with a black interior and red Recaro sport seats. I like the contrast between the black leather and the red of the dashboard. The sport car by excellence...
