1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Split-Window Coupe
During the Petersen Automotive Museum Sale, this rare 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe with one-year-only Split-Window package (one year only design element) will be heading to auction through RM Sotheby's.
History of the Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray
For the 10th anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette, the Corvette Sting Ray, also known Corvette C2 (2nd generation of the Chevrolet sports car) was designed by Larry Shinoda, American automotive designer known for the Sting Ray and the Ford Mustang, on the direction of Bill Mitchell, huge influence on GM.
The Corvette Sting Ray was produced between 1963 and 1967, and for the first time the model was declined in two different body styles :
- coupe with a two-piece rear window only in 1963
- convertible.
Specification
With its L75 V8 engine producing 300 hp and its Powerglide automatic transmission, this Corvette Sting Ray is one of 1,505 units thats received this combination. This model has also the optional power steering, power brakes and an independent rear suspension.
This model was bought for $US 5,648.95 in 1963 (I'm sure it will be more this time) with a rare factory air conditioning (278 examples had it). It was finished in Silver Blue with a Dark Blue interior. Beautiful....

This model with two-piece rear window ? Or any Sting Ray of this time ?
I like the convertible model, beautiful car
Yes the two piece one. One of those interesting, unique models that I learned about when I was just getting into cars and obsessed on.
