History of the Shelby 289 Cobra

Two names for this Cobra depending on which side of the Atlantic you're, the AC Cobra in Europe and the Shelby Cobra in North America. The Shelby 289 Cobra, a sport car with a Ford V8 engine, was produced in the UK and the US from 1962 to 1968 by AC Cars, a British automobile manufacturer.

The Cobra was the idea of the Texan Carroll Shelby, American driver racing in Europe in the 50's & automotive designer, wanted a combination of an American muscle engine with a European design. This Ford V8 engine with a chassis from AC Ace was a huge success in the showroom and also on the racetrack.

After all these years, the heritage of Mister Shelby will stay for centuries, if not on the market, perhaps in the heads of people who saw it at least once...

Big name of the American automobile

Gorgeous car. Also one of my favorites. Sometimes I forget how good they look. My enthusiasm for them diminished somewhat over the years due to the replica kit cars. Gotta be an original :)

I don't know about replica kit cars. But this original example must be a very nice ride.

Some of replicas are really amazing!

Now your talking, what a little beast, cheers mate.

As you said, beautiful little beast
