An Old SteemIt Post
Rather by accident than on purpose, I stumbled upon an old SteemIt post that quickly became one of the most useful posts I've read so far.
The article was written by @alexpmorris a couple of months ago, and in it he shares his Tampermonkey script that
- provides every Steemian with +72SP with a post vote slider (I'll show you a hack to get one if you have less than 72SP)
- can monetize articles that are past payout, i.e. older than 7 days
I think this is a great addon, so I wanted to share it with you.
But first things first:
The Voting Slider
The voting slider allows you to choose how much of a vote you want to give a post. By using it, you can give partial votes. As a result, you can upvote more articles spending the same voting power.
Instead of upvoting 20 posts using 100% of your power, you can for example upvote 40 posts using 50% of your power.
On the SteemIt platform, you can only start using the voting slider once you've got 500SP. There are a couple of workarounds, however: you can use the eSteem app - which has the slider built in - or install the Steemplus extension.
With the script of @alexpmorris there's no need for that anymore: once set up, the script will open a slider every time you click the 'upvote' button, allowing you to set a different percentage for every post.
I don't know why, but the script is written in such a way that it will only work for users that have more than 72SP. Fortunately, there's another article by @mahdiyari that shows you how to edit the script so it can be used even if you only have 1SP. (No worries, it's so easy everyone can do it.)

Monetizing Past Payout Posts
As you probably know, you can only earn money from your posted articles within a 7-day time frame. After 7 days, a post is considered past payout.
The same script that gives you the voting slider also includes a feature that allows you to monetize posts - no matter how old they are - through commenting.
As long as a post still contains at least ONE ACTIVE COMMENT, whether the post is 1 week or 6 months past payout, the "Past Payout Monetizer" will find and target THAT COMMENT for an upvote instead. And as simply as that, you can easily reward the author for their hard work, even if you've discovered it months after the first payout!
