New Books Tuesday: March 27
Many people know that Wednesday is New Comics day. Somewhat less known is the fact that Tuesday, in the US, is New Books day.
Weekly disclaimer: This weekly post highlights some of the books being published on any given week, usually in the science fiction and fantasy genres, both YA and books for adults. I am VERY likely to miss cool new books, so please feel free to tell me about them in the comments. Sometimes these will be books I've read a pre-publishing copy of, but most of the time, they will not. These are books I find notable, but I certainly don't read fast enough in English to be able to read all the cool books that come out every week.

Inarguably the biggest release of the week in sff (both in terms of hype and of wordcount. This book is MASSIVE), this fantasy retelling of King Lear from the daughters' perspective has been garnering a lot of praise and a lot of attention.
When your novel has an enthusiastic blurb from Kelly Link, that's a great start. When the description started out seeming like a possible nostalgia fest, I cringed. But then it went in a different and much more interesting direction and I am intrigued.
A steampunk novel of first contact is either going to be awesome or a complete mess. I'm not saying you shouldn't mix genres. I love genre mixing, but the skill level required is higher.

While The Queens of Innis Lear is the biggest release of the week, this one, coming on Saturday, is definitely the one I'm looking forward to. Aliette de Bodard is a friend, and I was there on social media when the idea to write a Sherlock Holmes story in her Universe of Xuya, and was one of many to voice encouragement and enthusiasm. And then... it happened. And now the novella is coming in a fancy print edition and an affordable ebook and I'm ready to read about Sherlock as a detective mindship.
What are you looking forward to reading?
