IMPORTANT: Update On How To Submit Your Contest Photos!

First of all, thank you all for participating in these contests on a daily basis and sharing your wonderful thoughts about other photos made by other contestants <3

As more and more people are participating I can spend less and less time per photo to judge these. As my time is a limited resource. Therefor, I am constantly looking out for new ways to improve my workflow and automate certain aspects. For going over all of the entries I noticed that www.busy.org works better for me because of the larger thumbnails and the faster loading times.

What I do now is that I glance over all of the thumbnails to see if there are any photos I want to have a closer look at. This means that if you have multiple photos per post I will most likely only see the first one. So make sure this is your best photo.

In a way this is good, since this means you will have to put more thought in which photo you want to use to draw my attention ;)

TL:DR Make sure you post your best photo as the first one, since I glance over thumbnails on busy to improve my workflow

My Posting Template

I have a random question for you... How do you do your photos? Where you can click on the photo and it pulls up the full size image? When you shoot in raw they can be large! Even though I convert them. My files are still too large to show the full photo in the thumbnail. I would love to know how you are posting yours!

Hi jewels3! I export my photos at 50% resolution which is 25% of original file size.

The clicky thingy is a html trick, you can find the code for this in my posting template in the licks section

Thanks! I just found the post.
And thanks for answering. I feel like a total newbie and I appreciate you taking the time to help. I can imagine how busy just combing through all the submissions keeps you!

I just used it! I love it! Thanks for all you do!

I did come across this in the beginning but didn't know what to do with it just yet... I'm learning...

whoa, I have no idea how to export photos at a certain resolution. yikes. so are we supposed to be submitting our photos on busy.org @juliank?

Thank you for all that you do. I have you as an auto vote on Steem Voter.

I was actually thinking today about how you get around to manage two competitions a day ! That is really impressive :) I think you deserve a tip! 1

Thanks, busy has really improved my workflow. I basically get to scroll through all of the photos and see every image is high enough resolution to decide if I want to have a closer look :D

They seem to have quite a lot of good people working on busy - I also find it's quite nice. I am stillostlynon Steemit though as I have gotten the most used to it. It's like switching from windows to mac I guess

I like your comparison between mac and windows. Both websites have their advantages and I use them both depending on what I am doing. But I have to say, busy looks very promising considering it is still early beta

Things in general are looking more positive now ! Let's hope we get an awesome xmas with some nice Steemit development surprises

One suggestion for a category change @juliank. You have three categories — landscapephotography, goldenhourphotography and cityscapephotography — which all are in essence landscapes of a different kind, but you don't have most photographic category of all — portraitphotography. Would you please give a think about that?

Hi @lighteye, thank you for your feedback! I agree that landscape and cityscape or both landscapes of a different kind, however for golden hour, golden hour is a lot broader and for example take this photo of a beer bottle

In essence you can take almost any photography category and add the golden hour element to it. Also portrait photography.

For portrait photography, this is high on the the list! I myself am not experienced in this category at all and would love to get more into it.

For this month I want to see how each category performs, and depending on that changes will be made. I also try to factor in how easily people will be able to take photos. Since everybody either lives in a city/village or more in nature, I figured by adding those 2 categories everybody would be able to participate in at least one

OK, I´m interested in joining the challenges and will post my entries soon. Thank you for initiating this contest... upvoted, followed and resteemed.

Cool to have you onboard!

Appreciate you putting in so much time and efforts here. Have a question though, do we have to post now on Busy instead of Steemit? Ignore if that's a stupid question #newbiealert :D

That is a very good question! The power of Steem is that it is separate from Steemit. Steem is the database that holds all the information, while Steemit is a portal to interact with the database. Busy is just a different portal that also interacts with the Steem database. So when you do something on either Steemit or Busy, it will also appear on the other website

That makes sense, I always try to do that, although sometimes my second photo may be better, because it's in portrait format, which is larger.

It is indeed a bit tricky for portrait photos! But I can still quite easily recognise that there is more from the thumbnail

Great advice! Yes, the first photo is the most important photo as it is the featured thumbnail of our post, so must make sure it is our best photo. Personally I think the landscape orientation is better than the portrait orientation.

I agree, it should be your best photo by standard. As for landscape vs portrait, I usually take photos in landscape mode since that is what I am used to. However, there are certainly situations where portrait is a better option

Thank you for this information @juliank, I will do it in my every entry next time, hopefully I can draw your attention

We will see :D

I've posted on categories macophotography and colourfulphotography, hoping you are interested in my two posts. :)

hey @juliank,,
