Digital Currency Past Present Future - At $460, Ethereum is Still Undervalued

in #bitcoin7 years ago

The price of Ether has almost doubled in the last 2 weeks. And just a few weeks following its latest hard fork, it has reached several ATHs as of this writing. But despite these new highs, Ethereum is still heavily undervalued. Here's why:

1.) The 2nd Runner Up

Ethereum has been consistently trailing bitcoin core as the #2 crypto in terms of capitalization since it's launch. Its price had been holding at around 10%-15% of bitcoin's before the bitcoin mania begun arising from the successive hard forks. At bitcoin's current price of $8,200, Ether should ideally be at $800 to $1,200 per coin.

2.) Bitcoin is over 8 years old. Ethereum, only 2 years old.

Ethereum was initially launched in July 2015 while bitcoin on January 2009. 2 years after bitcoin's launch, it was trading at around $12 per coin. While I agree that we're not comparing apples to apples in this case but the fact that Ethereum gained so much momentum at a very young age tells a lot about its future potentials.

3.) Speed, Scale and Smart Contracts

Speed, scale and ease of use are 3 features that each crypto should have to become the mainstream payment solutions replacing paypal, visa as well as replace the traditional banking institutions as the medium of storing value and cash transfers. With the Metropolis hard fork that took effect in October 2017 and the upcoming Serenity hard fork, Ethereum would be able to compete in all of these features against the likes of Visa and Paypal which presently process around 40,000 transactions per second. Currently, Ethereum can process a max of 15 transactions per second while bitcoin can do about 7 per second

An added and valuable feature of Ethereum is its smart contracts. While still at a very early stage, its disruptive power across almost every industry, from accounting to legal, purchasing, contracts, you name it, is grossly misunderstood and under-appreciated.

Price Rally

Historically, Ethereum’s price rallies resulted from these hard forks. After the launch of Homestead in March for example, Ethereum jumped by 150% from around $12 in mid-February to a new high of $30 end of March. Similar phenomenon is happening at the time of this writing driven by the Oct 2017 Metropolis hard fork.

Now I want to redeem ETH for my STORM PLAY (CakeCodes android app) bolts via Coinbase (ETH wallet). 😊

I was a happy Bitcoin user for the past 2-years but with the recent blockchain FEE increase I am no longer happy. Imagine a fee increase while BTC price increase? It's RIDICULOUS! I'd rather use PayPal or Bank Wire. 😤😤😤

I would think you hold both BTC and BCH? BTC to me is still a good long term investment but I agree, fees as very high and speed is very slow relative to other cryptos. Ether is taking the spotlight at this time.

Yes I have a few BCH because I have BTC since 2015 in various wallets and exchanges. 😊

I have few ETH on Coinbase but my country Philippines is no longer supported for Coinbase. I can only buy/sell coins when I go to the USA or Singapore.

I see. Good for you to have invested in bitcoin as early as 2015. wish i did too.
