Digital Currency Past Present Future - Companies that Accept Bitcoin as Payment

in #bitcoin6 years ago (edited)

The bitcoin and altcoin mania is spreading, really fast! I was talking to a family friend the other day (who still regard bitcoin is a fraud) and he said that his daughter is looking for an apartment to rent and one of the owners was asking for bitcoin as a form of payment. Following are pieces of evidence that the adoption of cryptocurrencies is going mainstream:

1.) Google Searches Keep Rising

2.) About 100,000 new users joined Coinbase in one day

Investors rushed to open new accounts for buying and selling bitcoin after news that the world's largest futures exchange plans to launch futures for the digital currency this year.

About 100,000 new users joined Coinbase a day after the Tuesday announcement, according to public data compiled by Alistair Milne, co-founder and chief investment officer of Altana Digital Currency Fund.

3.) Millions of people are now taking cryptography and blockchain courses

Professor Boneh, a Stanford Professor who offers cryptography course through Coursera, said that more than 1 million people have signed up for an online cryptography class. Coursera is just one of the hundreds of sites that offer online learning.

4.) Cryptocurrency Trading Volume Has Surpassed Apple Stock

Currently, the trading volume of Apple Stock averages about $4 billion per day, making it the most liquid company stock. The trading between cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies has risen eightfold in 2017. Current trading volume hit a 24-hour record of $11 billion, although the 30-day rolling average is closer to $3 billion.

No big surprise here since cryptocurrency trading is 24/7 while stocks trading only occurs during the day and weekdays!
