Having fun buying pixels with Bitcoin’s Lightning Network (with Easter eggs)
Hello my fellow Steemians and Crypto investors,
Today I want to share with you a super fun website that’s already making use of Bitcoin’s Lightning network with real money (on Bitcoin’s mainnet, not a test product), providing lots of entertainment to the crypto community and reaping profits for their creators.
The website is called satoshis.place and it consists of an uncensored and, thus super fun, artboard where you can buy individual pixels by using Lightning Network Micropayments.
Of course, you will see a lot of dick pics made by immature individuals but, also a lot of interesting artwork, political statements, jokes, and plenty of allusions to the Bitcoin vs BCash debate.
In other words, it’s a lot of people freely expressing themselves in an uncensored environment and having fun while paying some micro-cents to have their voices heard. It doesn’t get any more futuristic and free market than that!
Why is this exciting?
Everything good today on the internet is paid for with your private information in sneaky ways where you, the user, always get screwed. In the future, as privacy issues keep compounding and public and political backlash increases, most good content will be paid for with micro payments.
Most importantly, if you do decide to give your private information away to companies, you will expect to be paid back, be compensated with micropayments too. Why are the Facebooks and Googles of this world reaping all the benefits from our information and not sharing any of it with us?
There’s a whole industry ripe for disruption there, all we need is a functional micropayments system and it’s here to stay. This is but the tip of the iceberg, the micropayments industry is just getting started. There will be many services and plenty of disruption to current industries that we can’t even imagine now. Buckle up Dorothy, because Kansas as we know it, is going bye bye!

Micropayments are a huge deal in third world nations. Few realize how a little can go a long way in those countries. The ability to give a couple bucks without having to fork a huge amount over in transaction fees is invaluable to those people. Part of the problem with sending money to many countries is the fees often top 10%. Sending a small amount of money simply is not possible.
Imagine the number of families that could be fed in a country like Uganda simply on the spare change Americans have laying around.
It's actually already kind of happening with cellphone minutes. They use them as currency in Cuba and some countries in Africa. A true micro payments solution would be god sent. We are still not there yet, it's very early. This artboard website is a very very early pioneer of things to come. saludos @Taskmaster4450!
