The Lunation in Scorpio

I suppose I should get this out while the Lunation in Scorpio is still ... you know ... a thing! I actually got it written very soon after the New Moon arrived, but then got caught up in what it talks about -- dealing with all that in my real life. Somewhere, the process from print to publication got side-tracked. So, I'll take a deep breath, round up what's gotten away from me ... and if we're all ready, here we go.

Once again, we reach the Season of Scorpio with a lot going on in everyone's life -- even more than last year, and maybe more important, too. This New Moon comes just as Mercury passes over Jupiter and Jupiter changes signs to spend a year romping through its own marvelous home turf. That alone suggests quite a year ahead -- and we haven't yet hit all the markers that will define it.

Once again, we need to talk about the pieces one at a time -- because trying to remember them all in a chunk is not for the faint-of-heart. (Or the absent-of-mind.) Trying to find time to work them all through and do them justice is becoming a challenge for me -- and maybe for some of you, too. Anyway, let's get started.

A season of change

Scorpio energy marks a major point of change in the procession of Life. As a writer, I think of it as the "editing phase" -- where you tear out what no longer belongs, tighten up what remains, add chunks you need to include -- maybe do a little more research to get it all right, assess what you've got -- and either hit the Publish button ... or scrap it all and start over. From scratch. Scorpio / Pluto energy is great at deciding that's what's going to happen now -- whether you think that's a swell idea or not. Major changes like that can be sad, sobering and final.

Scorpio energy is always about improving what exists. It's the basis for the final judgment we all eventually reach that "everything turns out for the best." But it can be a long, long, long time before you can honestly say that with conviction in some cases. Scorpio operates with its own wisdom -- and it reveals its ultimate vision when it's good and ready -- and not much sooner.

A lot of it!

This next month or so there's a lot of "editing" going on -- a lot of assessment, revision, discarding ... and replacing -- eventually. Venus is still retrograde in Libra, moving back into Scorpio soon -- a time of serious realignment in your relationships.

Mercury and Jupiter have just changed signs, as I mentioned -- forecasting a time of major intellectual expansion, philosophical growth and teaching-and-learning.

Mars is about to leave Aquarius (finally!! -- after retrograding here for the past six months), moving into pensive Pisces where "creative incubation" is the theme. So, yeah -- there are big changes coming up quick ... and we're all set to receive them. (Or better be!!)

It's just ahead,
or already starting

For the moment, we're on the edge of it all though -- poised on the cusp of the New Moon in Scorpio. Scorpio energy by its very nature is always touchy and impossible to ignore. With experience, you learn to give it respect. As I said, it's an invitation to streamline your life -- and that's putting it kindly. (Sometimes it's not an invitation at all. You have no other choice.)

As you ponder the new arrangements you need, concentrate on clearing out, paring down, improving, clarifying, and discarding items, ideas, relationships, projects, commitments, and situations that aren't working well any more. Figure out what's broken and ineffective, what's useless -- or ready to end for whatever reason.

Paring down ... and releasing

Scorpio's themes display the formidable process of death and rebirth ... destruction and rebuilding ... closing down what is exhausted and worn out ... and replacing what exists with something better. The closure part of that equation can be psychologically wrenching. The rebuilding-and-replacing part can be physically exhausting. Scorpio's track is never easy. It's just ... necessary. No arguments. No appeal.

And we've just come through a major time of that in some very personal areas. If you know you still have work to do to tidy up any dangling ends, it's time to get moving. Life isn't going to wait -- for you or me or anyone. There are things in life you need to get rid of. (What just passed through your mind is a good place to start.)

You'll need to revise, remodel, renegotiate, reconstruct and reinvest in what's left. The sooner the better. Hanging onto dead weight makes it harder to move -- and you need to do that, too. PDQ.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
