The drama continues

Mercury recently moved from a tour through Taurus to spend a while in its home territory, Gemini -- one of two homes he owns, one of two signs he rules. (You know how Geminis love having and doing things in pairs One of anything they need or enjoy is simply never enough.)

He will travel here until June 12. His first appointment came this morning -- June 1 -- with a trine to Mars in Aquarius.

The Sun in Gemini made this same stop a few days ago. I wrote about it here.. So now, the drama continues, with a new actor on the scene.

Who are the players?

Mercury is Astrology's symbol for the conscious mind and its powerful energy of intellect and thought. It helps you generate ideas and form opinions. Mercury energy inspires your curiosity. It influences your perspectives and shapes how you think. It helps you choose which interests to develop -- and how to share what you know with those who want to learn or who can add to your store of information.

Mars is Astrology's symbol for action, enterprise and raw physical power. It helps you do work, get things going, accomplish jobs that take initiative and energy and create the changes you want to see in the world. Mars energy shows how you apply yourself, the kinds of projects that attract your attention and how you go about supporting them and making things happen. It shows what gets you moving -- and what you do when that happens.

What are their characters?

Mercury is in Gemini -- which doubles down on its intellectual zest. Mercury in Gemini shows a mind that is curious and versatile, one that thinks fast and moves faster. It gets bored quickly. It needs lots of variety. It can multi-task better than any other combination of planet and sign. And it likes to have more than one work-in-progress at a time.

Mars is in Aquarius -- which combines the planet of physical force and self-assertion with the Aquarian skills of ingenuity, originality, independence and progressive ideals. This energy is attracted to unusual ideas and will execute them in unconventional ways.

It likes to experiment and will try something "just to see what happens." It is noted for its concern for the future and creating better conditions -- and the work it does will show this as a sub-theme in the direction it takes ... and the result it aims to produce.

What is the plot?

This is the departing trine. If you could chart your life from a perfect memory (or with notes from a richly detailed journal), you would see a connection between your current thoughts and events ... and the decisions you made and actions you took the last time Mercury and Mars were conjunct (in the same degree and minute of arc in the same Zodiac sign in the sky.) That conjunction occurred when Mercury and Mars were conjunct in Virgo in late September 2017.

What is the history behind current events?

Back then, -- consciously or not -- you made adjustments and choices about the kind of work you want to do, the way you want to use your talents and the lifestyle you want to create.

This may have involved adjusting your efforts and the kind of services you provide others based on things you had learned or "what you knew then" about various opportunities you had discovered and the requirements of the work you want to achieve.

You adjusted your focus and the kind of services you offer based on different needs, new information and your opinion of your own skills. You devised more efficient routines, better approaches, different scheduling ... changes that let you do more with less stress and expense. These also helped you take better care of yourself. (This describes the work of Mercury conjunct Mars in Virgo.)

Note: Sometimes the word "work" does mean the job you do for money. But people do things for money they genuinely despise. "Work" in astrology means how you use your talents and abilities, the contributions you make to yourself and others that makes life easier and more pleasant.

Work is about what you do so life functions smoothly for everyone. It defines who you are through the jobs, chores, favors, commitments and responsibilities you meet for the people you serve -- including yourself. This means not just clients and customers, etc., but colleagues, family members, close friends, loved ones, pets., etc., -- anyone who depends on you doing what you do ... performing "your job" ... so that life accommodates them well.

And what's happening now?

From the work you did back at the Mercury / Mars conjunction new options have emerge. Circumstances have changed. You nowhave more latitude, more room to play and experiment, new subjects to learn and explore, more freedom ... more independence ... and the chance to be more *completely yourself.

It may look like other people had a hand in all this ... or that life did some of the stuff on its own, but this is a direct result of your choices. You were the catalyst. You set up the current situation from the decisions you made, the work you did, the way you analyzed and acted on your optsions back then. If you like what you see -- and you probably do -- *congratulations!! If you're not all that thrilled, you can still make changes. That's what this trine is about, too -- the chance to make course corrections and align life more to your liking.

Mercury in Gemini can see all kinds of choices. They bloom like wildflowers after a rain. It explores and invents. It shares what it learns ... and learns more things of value by talking, writing, doing research, having conversations with others, and *using sheer brain power to come up with plans and solve problems. It is one of the most flexible and mentally brilliant energies going. Take notes on your ideas. Brainstorm with companions. Listen to the whispers of your inspiration. What comes of this ... could simply be awesome.

Mars in Aquarius shuns traditional "ways of doing things." It is extremely resourceful. It loves to experiment. It will blaze new trails and try something different just for the sheer joy of discovery. It is shot full of ingenuity. It has great intuition. Its inspirations can be breath-taking -- and it trusts its own ability to *make something wonderful happen. It can be as magic as alchemy. Listen to your mind. Listen to your instincts. Take some chances. Now is the time.

What to expect?

  • A mind ablaze with intriguing new ideas and interests. Listen to your thoughts. Take notes. Follow your inspiration. Don't be afraid to try something highly progressive or unusual. Do things your way. Life itself is ready to show you how.

  • The chance to develop your mind and act on your new directions. This is a creative alliance of thought linked with action. Take a deep breath and be ready to accept invitations and take risks that might have scared you witless before. All of a sudden, you'll find this is easy. you'll wonder why you were such a coward before!

  • Opportunities to expand your knowledge, experience and expertise. This is a learning opportunity that practically defines the term. The sheer genius at work here can leave you amazed at your own abilities. You owe it to yourself to discover how far you can go, what you can do, what kind of progress is possible. If you waste this one, you'll regret it. Seize the moment. Make it yours.

How long does it last?

This lasts about a week "technically," but its effects can ripple on for a while depending on how much you use it and what you start while its in effect. Any lasting project that has this energy in its Natal Chart carries this energy forever. So while there are certainly personal gains to harvest here, those aren't the only potentials!

Looking ahead ...

Mars is slowing down to turn retrograde in Aquarius -- on June 26. It has been in its own shadow for nearly a month, so the ingenuity and progressive potential of this special blend is lining up to reveal itself already. Realize you will do a lot of work over again while Mars retrogrades, so don't consider anything you start (or finish) for a while to be set in stone.

You'll make enormous amounts of progress this year learning about originality, independence and the personal strength you gain (and profits you harvest) when you decide to do things your way ... and blaze your own trail.

This extended life lesson lasts well into October. So the possibilities I've described here are just the tip of the iceberg. There's more to come and numerous learning moments and course corrections to meet between here and the end of this road. Hang on.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
