Let me introduce you Zdzislaw Beksinski: a renowned Polish painter and photographer, born in 1929 and died in 2005 at 76.
Les presento a Zdzislaw Beksinski: un reconocido pintor y fotógrafo polaco que nació en 1929 y murió en el 2005 a los 76 años.
He was an artist who promoted a movement called Magic Realism, in which he reflected a macabre and gothic style that would easily frighten people not used to see such kind of paintings.
Él fue un artista que promovió un movimiento llamado Realismo Mágico, en el cual reflejó un estilo macabro y gótico que fácilmente asustaría a las personas que no están acostumbradas a ver tal tipo de pinturas.
He never studied arts, in fact, he worked for several companies as an engineer but he hated that kind of works, so he started exploring photography and after that he started with painting
Él nunca estudió artes, de hecho, trabajó para varias compañías como ingeniero, pero odiaba ese tipo de trabajos, así que empezó a explorar la fotografía y después empezó con la pintura.
In order to draw his paintings, he prepared his own chipboard panels and executed oil painting. He named his style as baroque or gothic. His interests were focused on post-apocalypse, surrealism, death, despair, disfigured faces and similar terrifying themes.
Para dibujar sus cuadros, él preparaba sus propios paneles aglomerados y ejecutaba pintura al óleo. Él nombro su estilo como “barroco” o gótico. Sus intereses se enfocaron en el post-apocalipsis, el surrealismo, la muerta, la desesperación, los rostros desfigurados y otros temas aterradores de la misma índole.
A curious fact about his paintings was that he never named them and never wanted to show them at any art expo. Besides, he loved listening to classical music while painting ‘cause he hated silence. One of his favorite music artists was Zbignew Preisner, a classical music composer.
Un dato curioso sobre sus pinturas es que nunca quiso ponerles nombre y tampoco quiso mostrarlas en ninguna exposición de arte. Además, le encantaba escuchar música clásica mientras pintaba porque odiaba el silencio. Uno de sus músicos favoritos era Zbignew Preisner, un compositor de música clásica.
Well, I’ll stop talking about him right now ‘cause I will let you see his work. This is a selection from his 707 paintings (yeah, you read well, 707 paintings) and I hope you enjoy it.
