WOLVERINE vs. HULK
~ Sketch Session 1 ~ Character Study ~
I was originally going to do this artwork on my Slate 2 device that uses magnets to digitize your artwork as you use traditional materials. I was having too much trouble with it so I just decided to go old school and just sketch some ideas out. My first few attempts were without any source references but I can see my own rust. I could tell I wasn't too far off... but I didn't get that close either!
I have a friend who's son wanted a Hulk after seeing my Spider-Man artwork. I had another friend that likes Hulk as well. I have always been a Wolverine fan... so I thought why not make a Royal Rumble out of the deal! It has been frustrating and fun at the same time! Art is crazy like that most of the time.
For this post, which is very rough... I will just show some of the remedial sketches I have done to try and figure out proportions and poses, mostly of Wolverine. Did you know that Wolverine made his first comic cameo appearance in the last panel of issue 180 and his first major debut in THE INCREDIBLE HULK issue #181?
Hey Bub!
It hurts my eyes looking at some of these at this point... but you have to start somewhere! I really wanted to make this post to show just that! By the time I finish an artwork... it looks all clean and finished! Most people don't see the stacks and stacks of sketches it takes to create one finished piece! I mentioned in one of my previous art posts the mistakes and corrections you don't see help shape the final outcome sometimes more than the successes of technique or finesse!
Did you know that Wolverine only stands about 5'2? That is a very gracious measurement from what I recollect of the lore! As it turns out... HULK is between 7 to 8 feet tall. Sounds like the proverbial David vs. Goliath!
I was reluctant to make this post as it FEELS very unfinished and it makes me feel vulnerable sharing my raw sketches in their different stages of drafting. I usually show my art when it is presented in a way that makes me feel accomplished. This round of first rough sketches shows me how rusty I truly am. It's been a long while since I revisited many of these blasts from my past!
It almost feels like getting reacquainted with an old friend! I know that almost every aspect of this artwork is in progress and not finished AT ALL! I am not even sure how graphic I want to make this Royal Rumble yet either or which Grey, Red, or Green Hulk to use, or which Wolverine costume to use? I am sure I will be able to figure it all out!
Talk about First World Problems!
I will tackle this project with a little more fervor now that I am finishing this post. Between the device not serving my purposes and my own scatter brain getting in the way... I almost took the day off! Then I thought to myself, what would Taraz do! Now, I have like five more posts to finish before the sun sets all the way! hahahha
In all seriousness, I am thankful for your time stopping by to check out my art. This isn't my finest and definitely isn't finished work yet... but I am looking forward to rolling my sleeves up and having some fun creating this epic battle! It feels like these characters may help develop my own character! I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the beginning stages. In fact, you may find it more gratifying to enjoy the creative process with me from start to finish! We shall see.

Thank bRO! I think this one looks more animalistic for sure! If I have a choice... Wolverine has to have the sideburns! But getting them and the mask is a tricky combo that my mind is still trying to figure out!
I also think it can be hard to find the balance between animal and human considering the character! I think i haven't made my favorite yet!
On another side note... the first image looks cool to me having the pencil and ink. Almost like 3d layers! hahhaha Have a great night bRO!
Thats for sure brother and you will face the same thing with the hulk (monster vs human proportions :D) but not as difficult. I think I should too draw this character in pencil whenever I find some time. And you know what the fun thing would be, I am gonna use your first image as base if you dont mind :D. Is is looking so cool :D

Go for it! Or if you like I can get you a cleaner version of the favorite one you would like to use. I think Hulk will be easy.... but that may be overconfidence speaking! hahahha

I found some really good post's from many people here that just got undervalue because of being noobie without followers just like mine.
and I think steemit is all about the community and making new connection that none of the other social media can provide.
If a post is older than 7 days... there is no reward pool anymore for the post. Once the payout hits after 7 days... then any upvote towards an old post will not reward anyone. Plus, your voting power will be depleted regardless. So, as a noob... I was trying to help you save your voting power. Every vote you cast cost you Voting Power. That power depletes as you use it and recharges when you are not.
