Let's Go Back In Time - Part 9
Are you ready for another part of my photo series taken at the Astra Museum situated in Sibiu, Romania? Let's go back in time and see what life was like once.
A cute pise house covered with straw, which most likely has one or two rooms and a storage room in the right side. Look at those tiny windows. It was dark in the house and lighting was done by using petroleum, which wasn't cheap.
Another house made of wood, must have been of someone well off. The house is way bigger than the other ones and that wooden fence is very stylish. Makes me think this might have been a bigger homestead.
A watermill with two millstones.
This on the other hand is a hand mill with belt drive, according to the label.
An old fire truck :) At that time almost everything was made of wood, fires must have been pretty frequent. I'm not sure how efficient this fire truck was but there was no other option.
A steam tractor, the cutest vehicle I've seen here.

Love it is just amazing how people worked well with what they had them days :)
Yes, I agree, it's amazing how they made everything work :)
I find it so amazing that people did so well in life using the technology that they had for the time. I wondered about things like Stonehenge and how these things were built and even these tractors from long ago and far away. I have to admit that in some ways the people are much smarter and use ingenuity, where is today they depend on somebody else making life easier for them. How many people do you know nowadays the Builder on Holmes? Plow their own fields? Milk their own cows? How many people even have cows or do they use the ease of the grocery store instead?
I find these living Villages very humbling to go through and see what life was like and honestly sometimes the people were happier than they are now with all the trappings of making life easy.
These have been wonderful post and I am so glad that you have taken the time to educate some of us on life in yesteryear. Thank you.

Nice post princess
Its amazing how they did everything we do to sustain life but with such primative tools, etc. Guess those tools seemed new and efficient at the time! Can't imagine the poor lighting...and they were reading, sewing, cooking all with minimal light. Awesome trip back in time.
When we see this, makes us appreciate what we have today more. Isn't it?
Yes, ma'am, it certainly does. It was real work to survive.
Outstanding museum images. Is the top covered with straw? I just saw this, really a rare sight for me
Thanks for this @erikah
Thank you! Yes, the top is made of straw, it's restored to its original condition. I'm glad you like it, stay tuned, there's more to come.
I would love to wait for it
