Greetings, dear friends! I invite you to join my walk through the zoological park of the city of Rivne, Ukraine. This vast territory of the animal kingdom will decorate your day.

I want to share with you my impressions of meeting this wonderful zoo and its inhabitants. There are a lot of impressions. Every year we try to get into this zoo.

People often have sympathy and vice versa, dislikes for some species of animals. Perhaps, after this journey, you will change your opinion about certain types of creatures from the animal kingdom.

I will not give bare encyclopedic data. All this you can read on the Internet. Those feelings that I experienced when meeting with animals, associations, that's what makes me go further. This is something that cannot be read, this is something that needs to be experienced, felt by each cell of the spinal cord.

Today I want to introduce you to Tapir.

Very interesting, exotic animal, originally from South America. Piglet with a proboscis, so you can call this animal at first sight. But, it is rather a small rhinoceros with a proboscis, with which it helps itself to eat vegetable food.

On the feet of the tapir, on each finger there is a small hoof. Tapir gait is very soft, I would say that this gait, like a very heavy and fat cat.

When he was called to eat, he happily ran to the call of a zoo worker.

Tapirs love to swim, in the open-air cage for them dug small swimming pools.

I liked the color of tapir, it resembles the color of stealth bombers. Frosted coal shine, it is difficult for me to choose a more suitable comparison, what would explain how it looks.

As a former hunter, I understand those who hunt tapirs for meat. It is easy prey, a lot of easily accessible meat. Under the conditions of Amazonia, this is a week of food for the whole tribe without risking the life of a hunter. But, my understanding concerns the Indians, who are directly dependent on the nature that surrounds them. To go on a safari, for the sake of a trophy in the form of a tapir, this hunt is like a hunt for defenseless rabbits sitting in a cage. This is the lower level of poaching. This is impossible to compare with the hunt for wild Kobans, where a hunter runs the risk of meeting a billboy weighing up to half a ton and then the outcome of the hunt will be very controversial.

Judging by what I have seen, the tapir appetite is excellent! These guys know a lot about vegetables and hay.

Then I caught a moment when a dove flew in the background of a tapir. Ukrainian pigeon and South American tapir. Friendship of the continents, so you can call this picture.

Tapir ate food with such enviable serenity and appetite, that I myself was hungry, but it was still too early to leave. Tapirs, not alone live in this aviary. They have neighbors, which we will discuss later.

Our presence did not violate the plans of the tapir at all - to fill the stomach. But, it’s time to say goodbye and pay due attention to other inhabitants of the zoo.
