The profits in steemit.

in #adsactly8 years ago (edited)

After having studied the time scale in steemit; I am pleased to humbly explain to you the payment system and the variables that are at stake here in steemit.

I am sure you know the concepts of Steem, Steem Power (SP) and Steem Dollar (SBD); there is a lot of literature on steemit. I will focus on explaining the system of voting for a post in the seven-day period; to do this it is important to understand the time span in steemit and the variables involved.

Recapitulating what I discussed 10 days ago in my post about the time scale: the lifetime of a steemit post is seven days. The time starts counting from the fraction of a second that you clicked to publish...

The only difference between a post and a comment is that in the post, the first 30 minutes of its publication is crucial; depending on when we vote and with what voting power (SP) we do it, we will have better results as curators, the same for the author; for the comment there is no such consideration of time. Let's look at the following graph:

Original graphic extracted from my post.

In short, a pos and a comment have the same lifespan, it is seven days, and time begins to elapse from the moment of its publication. The charge for a post and for a comment is out of date due to the time difference between the two.

This is explained in detail in the post of my authorship here.

However, in steemit there are several scenarios, depending on your network activity:

  1. You made a publication and it was not voted for by anyone (the worst and most rare case)
  2. You made a publication and it was voted on by a lot of people, but it didn't have a significant benefit.
  3. You made a publication that was voted by someone with some voting power (SP) and generated some profit.
  4. You made a publication that was voted for by a few and generated profits you didn't expect.
  5. You voted for a post and at the end of the lifespan, it generated a tenth or hundredth of the total earnings generated by the post.
  6. You voted for a post and didn't make any money.
  7. You commented on a post and your comment was not voted on.
  8. You commented on a post and your comment was voted on.
  9. Anyway, you made a publication that was voted on, with comments and some of your responses to those comments received a vote.
  10. Last but not least, it's about re-esteeming a post, it's basically a courtesy rule you make to the author of the post, in order to expose that post to your followers.

All these cases can happen, and with all this activity you will have to pick up something on the steemit time scale. These gains may or may not be significant, depending on who votes for the post and who votes for your comments.

Another point to clarify is that a comment is considered by the steemit algorithm as a post, so the behavior of a good comment that is voted on and generates discussion will also be valued as any post in its category.

Original graphic.

As can be seen in the graph above, the time scale in steemit and the value of Steem and SBD on the same time scale will change the earnings proportionally; i.e., if yesterday the SBD was at $2 and the post showed a gain of 10 SBD, if today the SBD is at $1, it will show a gain of 8 SBD. I don't want to get into formulas that make your life difficult, but the earnings will be calculated proportionally to the average value of the SBD during the seven days of the life of the post, and the same for the comments.

We were all told that 25% of the rewards were due to the content of upward votes and, while it is true to some extent, 25% of the total amount of a publication is paid for with curatorial rewards, that does not mean that an equitable share is obtained. In fact, most people get about 12.5%, in the worst case scenario less than 1.5%...

In post newspapers (not in commentaries), any upward vote on a publication that takes place BEFORE 30 minutes after the publication of the publication, Steemit will hand over part of the curature to the author. Yeah, if you vote before 30 minutes, you'll lose some curatorial rewards. The matrix for this is 100% to 0%, with the median being 15 minutes of 50%.

For example, if you voted for a publication in 15 minutes and you are the first person to vote for that publication. Besides, you're the only person who voted for that publication. He'll give 50% of his conservatorship rewards to the author. If you were the only voter and voted within 30 minutes, you would get 100% of the curatorial rewards, which would be equal to 25% of the value of your vote. You don't get 25% of the value of the publications you vote for. You get your share of 25% of its value in the publication when paid for in 7 days. I think many people misunderstand this principle. At this point, thanks to @energyaddict22, for the support and allow me to use your insights on this topic.

Extracted from the friend's post @energyaddict22

Example 2: If you are the only voter in a publication and you voted for it by a vote of 1.00 (I know most of us don't have this type of SP), they will get their 25% share of the payout. That means that your vote of $1.00 will give you .25 if you voted at 30 minutes or after AND you were the only voter. From here you can estimate, depending on the value of your vote, how much you will receive for your vote.

Hitting the bull's-eye is hard., @energyaddict22

It would be good if this were the only parameter we need to calculate for. Unfortunately, there is a factor based on the position you voted for in the publication. People who vote early get more rewards than people who vote later. In fact, your percentage of the curator's reward may be significantly higher than 25% of your voting power. This can be very good if you are timing your votes correctly and getting your votes before a high SP curator comes in and votes in favor.

In Steemit there are really wonderful people who are friendly, intelligent and wise. Unfortunately, there are a bunch of idiots. liars, and bastards here too. Just like anywhere else in the world.

Thanks to @energyaddict22, for its support in these assessments, you can find more details in its post.

@energyaddict22

You can make money on this platform. Making money is hard work on this platform like anywhere else and lazy people can't do it. However, lazy people will blame nonlazy people for their success. Just like anywhere else in the world.

Writing good content is important. People don't like or trust you almost as much when you don't do quality work. Just like anywhere else in the world.

People will try to help you succeed here whenever I try to help you succeed or benefit in some way (emotionally, spiritually and financially). Just like anywhere else in the world.

Friends and networks matter! Relationships and trust matter just like anywhere else in the world.

As you can see, Steemit is not a utopian paradise where we all show up publishing some thoughts, sing "Alleluia" and get paid. I know we were told that it's easy and quick to make money here, but it just isn't. It's a place like any other place in the world. The only difference is that the rules of the game are slightly different.

There are large communities in Steemit and within Discord to help us improve at Steemit and grow our accounts. There are also communities that will absorb your time, energy and life while promising a lot of nonsense they cannot keep. In many cases, they are no better than you in the Steemit world, but they want you to let them be your mentor. Depending on your abilities, I can recommend a couple of communities: for the Spanish speaking, the #cervantes, #Spanish, #theunion, #universe communities; for the English speaking, communities like #ADSactly, #Qurator, #steemschools, #projectmilkbox, #Kryptonia and #SuperiorCoin, #PayitForward, all excellent groups.

My last piece of advice:

Beware of advice from people who haven't invested as much as you have in Steem or Steemit.

Thanks to my friend @energyaddict22, for his valuable advice and permission to move some of his material from English.

Thank you for reading my publications. If you like it, spread it around..

No, it is not! At least someone around here has figured out how it works! And actually, you've done a pretty good job of delineating some things on here. Kudos! I'll be following you.

Thank you. Thank you. For many years I have been involved in research in the field of numerical analysis, so I have spent almost a month researching steemit and its algorithm; in this sense, there are things I have not yet mentioned that I will soon explain.

You're a smart guy. People like you usually end up doing well on here. I guess we can never have enough analytics, am I right?

aqui mi visita hermano good post

What a wonderfully well written and informative post. So many people have no idea how the pay system works or what it takes to be successful on steemit. You have written something that can be a guide and open a lot of eyes!!! Great job!!

Grateful for your beautiful words. My gratitude goes to all those who make steemit a community platform of all for all. Very grateful to have you around. Prosperity.
