What I've Been Doing Last Week

Last week I was playing around with the ZEISS DuraVision BlueProtect coating that is intended to protect the eyes of people wearing prescription glasses with that special coating. Since I had to replace the prescription glasses I was using I have decided to get a new lenses with the special anti-blue coating and use the opportunity to test how much of the harmful light it actually blocks. Turns out it works pretty well with blue light emitted from LED light sources, but also with blocking UV and Blue light emitted from the sung during the day as well. I have some other interesting posts about light from the weeks before last, so you might be interested in checking these out as well...

I'm a fan of custom water cooling setups and I had to rebuild the cooling of one of my home PCs as I was upgrading it from AMD to Intel and that required some expected and some unexpected changes of the cooling system. Custom water cooling setups can be a bit challenging at times, so they may not be a great choice for people with not much experience. One thing that you might want to avoid is the use of colored coolant or colorants to color the liquid that is circulating inside the water cooling system. If you are interested in exploring water cooling solutions for computers you might actually want to start with an All-in-One solution, there are quite a few of these available, they are inexpensive and the best of all is that they do come prebuilt and ready to install and use.

3D Printing being one of my hobbies was also one of the topics I have covered during the last week as I was playing around with an unusual tape for covering the build plate of a 3D printer. Most of the more affordable consumer 3D printers still have a lot of specifics and things you need to learn and try until you get the hang of things and be able to save yourself various trouble when printing. One of the common issues being related to the build plate of the 3D printer and the printed part having trouble sticking properly and the printed part failing as a result. Figuring out what works best for covering the build plate to have good adhesion for problem free printing and easy removal of the printed part is one of the challenges for some 3D printers.

With the holidays season pretty much here already things are quite getting busy and that goes not only for work, but in general, so not that much time left to write on Steemit lately... barely managing to get a post almost every day. The reason for that is the lack of free time, not the lack of things to write about... Hopefully things will get better when the New Year comes and there will be some more free time left to spend on Steemit.
