What I've Been Doing Last Week
A couple of days ago the crowdsale of the Golos tokens has officially finished, though there were some unexpected delays as there were quite a lot of unconfirmed transactions in the end. Everyone that has participated in the crowdsale has already received his Golos Power and this makes Golos platform a bit more attractive for users to post on as previously there were just a few "whales" that could actually make a difference with their votes on content that was posted. Golos is not yet paying rewards for posts to authors, this is expected to happen in about 36 days from now, so early next year.
Last week there were some UI changes on Steemit and some new features were added, but the one that I was more interested in was the official Blog post views counter. Unfortunately the views counter has confirmed that there are still not that many people reading users posts, regardless of the number of votes that often could go a couple of times higher than the actually reported views. Nevertheless good content usually receives higher rewards, even if there are not that many people that actually read the post... though there are still exceptions as well. Hopefully in time things will be improving and the presence of an official Blog post views counter is definitely a more in the right direction.
I have posted something interesting for everyone that might be into adding a network attached storage solution for home or small office with the help of the HP MicroServer Gen 8, a really interesting and pretty affordable solution. My focus was on Adding an SSD Drive to an HP Microserver Gen8 based on my personal experience, but I did briefly introduce the device itself for everyone that might not have heard about it yet. It is an Enterprise level hardware at affordable price for more advanced users that might not be happy with the off the shelf ready to use NAS products available.
A useful tip for the people that need to edit some audio files such as smartphone call recordings for example with a free, functional and relatively easy audio editor software. Audacity is a nice tool for working with audio files and besides easy tasks its functionality can easily be expanded to do more complex things. The best thing about the software is that thanks to the FFmpeg the input format support can cover pretty much all of the more used audio file formats.
Virtual Reality is an emerging technology (one more) and the potential this time is really good with a lot of analysts predicting huge boom in VR in the next couple of years. NO wonder different industries are trying to tap into the VR potential such as Banks using the technology to impress customers. If you are interested in learning more about VR technology and how content for Virtual Reality is being developed for the major platforms out there, then you might also be interested in Getting Started with VR Development Using the Free Courses from the VR Dev School.
My ongoing work on the @robotev project continues with another small milestone today as the project will make it to 100 days of operation as a bot on Steemit. The work on my other pet project on Steemit - @crowdfundedwhale is also progressing well and although it is half the age of Robotev, the Crowdfunded Whale is already with higher reputation and with more followers and even with more Steem Power. The goals of both projects are different, but they all come as ideas in practice that are targeted at supporting the Steemit community long term.
