Lieutenant Colonel Dharamvir Singh of the 3 Corps Intelligence And Surveillance Unit (CISU) has filed in his affidavit that some of his own people have extorted and killed innocent people, in northeast India, in the state of Manipur. He mentioned three fake encounters and one case of extortion all carried out by a single team of the CISU between 2010 and 2011.
On March 10, 2010, they abducted Phijam Naobi, RK Ronel and Th Prem, all of whom belong to the Manipuri community, of Manipur, from a house in Dimapur, the commercial center of Nagaland state. They killed their adbuctees behind the unit's mess in Dimapur itself. However, the dead bodies were recovered from Assam, the neighboring state, at Lakhijan of Karbi Anglong district, on March 17, 2010.
This officer reported about his own maltreatment at the hands of his people. He mentioned of having been wrongfully escorted out of his quarters in Imphal, the capital of Manipur state, by the armed guards led by Lieutenant Colonel Nanda and Major Rathore on July 1 and placed under detention for 5 days until the court issued a release order. He said that his seniors have made him a victim of an organized campaign because he reported about their wrongdoings. He now fears for his life.
According to his affidavit, the same unit also kidnapped a woman and her child from Dimapur only to be released after pocketing a payment of Rs. 1 crore.
This is a situation where everything looks normal to everyone else.... But you know that something's just clearly wrong. You opened your mouth about it and they came for you.
